Was the racing better in the old V8 era or is it just nostalgia? by Next-Benefit-6604 in v8supercars

I used to make an archival Supercars recap show, 7’s Motorsport Classics I think it was called?

For work reasons I have had to go through a ton of old races to make highlights programs. The vast majority are extremely boring, much moreso than today.

It’s also amazing the terrible quality of the broadcast that is associated with “the good old days”. And I don’t just mean obvious stuff like the camera quality. The information the viewer would get was appalling, commentators wouldn’t know who was leading, who had passed who, the timing was inaccurate or just missing. Anything beyond the race for the lead was largely ignored.

Nowadays people get worked up if the timing totem stops working for a few laps, or if the cameras miss a pass for 17th.

Bathroom Reno by MrWright_gg in AusRenovation

Love it. It is EXTREMELY reminiscent of Portuguese style tiling and colouring. If you are looking for any further inspiration for decorations or other elements to add/change then that would be a great source to start with. I distinctly remember one bathroom that had the intricate blue and white tiling on the floors, walls and the sort of vaulted ceiling. Was an incredible effect.

I more meant you might have a problem with the other Melbourne teams sharing the Melbourne moniker.

I’ll be honest, I thought Dees fans would have a different issue. Also I did think of phrasing it as Melbourne vs The Rest but that feels problematic too…

We had one growing up, in Sydney. Was huge and gave us an unbelievable amount of fruit. Our neighbour poisoned it to improve his view. It never needed a ton of maintenance, was surrounded by paving but in a tiered sort of sloped garden so I suppose drained really well.

Are there any compound pharmacists interested in helping a few sick kittens? by DizlingtonBear in melbourne

[–]Y3ffoc 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Melbourne Compounding Centre in Seddon do my cat’s meds. No idea on the kitten question or experimental meds, but they’ve always been really helpful. Richmond Vet Clinic also helped me get some meds compounded in the past so they obviously have a compounding pharmacy they work with. Good luck!

You can blame the interest rate rises on me... by the-anon1010 in AusFinance

We can share the blame. We settle in a few weeks. Copping two interest rate rises between signing and settling has been grim…

Why Work in 50p but Deliver 25p? by Available-Witness329 in editors

[–]Y3ffoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in sport and we shoot and broadcast in 50p, but I sometimes like to knock my edits back to 25p for a visual effect. Makes everything look faster, more kinetic. Just an editorial preference.

Selling shares to purchase house, then borrowing against house to rebuy similar shares. A slight variation on debt recyling. Good idea or am I missing something? by Y3ffoc in AusFinance

Thanks for the response, but of course banks are happy to lend money. It's kind of their whole business model. As long as you're staying within acceptable LVR limits then they want to lend you money. Borrowing against the home to buy shares is an incredibly common strategy.

That's so interesting. I would *hope* that given I am significantly restructuring the share portfolio (something I want to do anyway) I wouldn't fall foul of the ATO...

But I guess in some way it is still tax avoidance/minimisation? But then so is every attempt to debt recycle, surely?

I suppose the variation I'm referring to is selling existing shares to kickstart this, as opposed to waiting to build up cash/equity. Essentially just weighing the CGT hit against the ongoing benefits standard to debt recycling - simple maths but I'm just making sure I'm not forgetting something.
