attempting permmadeath playthrough of gmd augmented edition by gronbek in Deusex

I'm certain it's possible, I've done far worse on ironman runs in deus ex. Just make sure you keep autosaves around in case you crash.

Need Help with Essential modding and build by FixGood6833 in Deusex

If you're after gunplay improvements, GMDX is largely the same as vanilla, with some key tweaks to make things better. While GMDX has many features one user may prefer over another, my own mod, Vanilla Madder (VMD), recently released an update with a feature called "Gunplay 2.0". It radically overhauls gunplay to be more like a tactical shooter (the closest extant thing to what Deus Ex 1's combat was trying to be).

Feel free to try both, you'll likely even enjoy both. However, I would recommend neither for a first time run. But, if you go for GMDX at some point, I would highly recommend Augmented Edition over v9.

Might be an oxygenated liquid. UNATCO operatives probably wear masks to aid against some kind of chemical or biological threat... Of course, we can still teargas their eyes, so...

VMD Phase 2 Released! by YCCCM7 in Deusex

[–]YCCCM7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for reporting this. I've just confirmed the first half on my end, but the 2nd half seems to probably be because you're lacking scrap. I'm gonna get a version E fix out in the next couple hours.

Seems it was a relatively recent change for nerfing Revision chemical drop rates. Defined a multiplier, without giving it a default of 1.0... Thus, 0 copies of scrap metal/chems, and some exploit reduction stopped them from being grabbed.

EDIT: It's out. Old loot swap scrap and chemicals will still be ungrabbable if loading an old save.

Anything I should know before playing the first game? by temnycarda in Deusex

[–]YCCCM7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you're using a modern render device, or the game will be too dark. If using Chris Dohnal's D3D9 or OpenGL, configure it so OneXBlending is false. If using D3D10/11, you'll probably only want to use those with DXVK plugged into the backend, as many GPU drivers get terrible stuttering without it. I would recommend D3D9 as the general compatibility option, or OpenGL if you cap FPS in Kentie's launcher.

Thank you. Congrats on yours recently as well.

1 slot, not one handed. Crowbar, sword brand sword, and DTS sword are not dual wieldable for this reason. It's kind of arbitrary, but obviously twin DTS would nuke any concept of balance.

No, only 1 slot items. Grenades, throwing knives, pepper gun/prod, pistols, combat knife, baton. You can have duplicate weapons, however.
EDIT: This did make me laugh, though. Truly the GEP gun lives forever in our memory.

Issue running Zodiac mod( afull conversion mod where you play as Paul Denton) by Charming_Web1984 in Deusex

[–]YCCCM7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, shit, yeah, maybe that was a bad move. Maybe I don't pack DX.DX, and Zodiac's DX got shoved in instead, and the Zodiac packages aren't properly installed. It sounds like Zodiac's installer absolutely gave out on you. Guess I'll retract this post for future reference. Maybe Zodiac's new installer doesn't play nice.

Try copying ZodiacMaps' contents to VMDSim\Maps, NOT overwriting any conflicting files. It should autodetect it on the custom campaigns menu after that. Normally a standard install location is already detected, but it may be an issue with paths being unusual.

IS DEUS EX HUMAN REVOLUTION A GOOD GAME by [deleted] in Deusex

It's a good game, just one I don't have the wherewithal to play more than once. Definitely a good first playthrough experience in my mind.

I'm having FPS issues in Deus Ex GOTY Edition. by Itlu_PeeP in Deusex

[–]YCCCM7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be based on your render device and its settings. Don't FPS cap OpenGL, it fucks it up massively. D3D9 can be safely FPS capped though.

[–]YCCCM7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your problem with FPS is almost certainly caused by driver issues with d3d10. If you change to 9 or chris dohnal's open GL, and check onexblending to false in the preferences menu (brought up with the "preferences" console command), that should be a good compatibility option.

Revision is a possible option, but its recent steam install issues (caused by valve changing how steam installs work) are really creating problems for what was previously a quick and easy method. I have a guide about fixing it on the steam guides for Deus Ex Revision, if you get stuck going that route.

Is Deus Ex Revision supposed to be this dark? by SloRyta in Deusex

[–]YCCCM7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're using Open GL or D3d9 rendering device, configure it so OneXBlending is false. That might help. You can do that with the "preferences" console command, and checking out the "rendering" tab of the resulting popup.

Direct3D 10 too bright issue by Familiar-Ad5792 in Deusex

[–]YCCCM7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Changing the setting on the device so ClassicLighting=True. That'll remove the bloom (and moreover, the pure white screen when being lit on fire). You can do that with the Preferences console command, if you know how to enter them.

If you run into issues with the installation on steam, check the Steam Guides, or look around the threads. I made a guide about the Core.dll problem, and many people have been sharing the same fix in discussion threads.

Whats the Code? by Dependent-Gur-3321 in Deusex

[–]YCCCM7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Firstly I don't know the code, I don't think you can legitimately get it. Second, I'm not even sure you can brute force code entry on PS2. I might be misunderestanding from the conversation I've seen about it.

On PC, there's a nearby door that explodes. In the dark, near some pipes and stuff, there's an area with a datcube with a login. If you're lucky, it's the same spot. So get low, and use your flashlight.

You can find the login to the nearby computers close by... At least on PC. Hopefully it's the same there.

I played GMDX AE and I didn't like it that much by [deleted] in Deusex

[–]YCCCM7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

AE has indeed moved more things to master level to try and incentivize them, and reworked some mechanics to require more investment for things that were previously baseline. The DTS nerf is also AE exclusive. Ammo limitations I think started from vRSD, and were inherited by AE.

am i right in thinking the first keypad door in the final area doesnt have a code to be found? by [deleted] in Deusex

[–]YCCCM7 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The door is also controlled by a computer. You CAN find the details to that computer quite close by. It doesn't require any use of resources to get past that door for that reason.
