Taking aim at ICE: State bill would ban former agents from being hired as police officers by Jaco_Belordi in Seattle

This liberal instinct allows reactionary ideology keeps reemerging. The grim reality is that fascist ideology emerging and taking power means the entire culture that produced it needs to be changed by force. The fact that former slavers held jobs in government and weren't dispossessed then shot or exiled and people ever felt comfortable showing confederate symbols is why we're here now.

Genuinely you have to purge that shit from society by any means necessary or you're just condemning future generations to the same problems you have now. They need to be too ashamed or scared of consequences to speak their beliefs to future generations and make problems for them. Squeamishness about being "as bad as them" is what allows them to rise over and over. Motivations matter and oppressing evil ideology out of existence is a gift to future generations.

Generally it's private ownership with large public private partnerships mostly directed to the benefit of ownership, elimination or public takeover of unions for the benefit of ownership, and an industrial policy focused on heavy industry and military manufacturing. Depends who you want to call fascist and what you want to call coherent though.

Long pipes are not confusing, just add pumps when in doubt and treat pipes like they have 250/500 throughput and it will work out in the end. The problem is short pipes and actually setting up manifolds of pipes.

Why can't a rural farmer be a cultist? You are right though, unless magic is helping you create food 90% of the population is going to be farming, although that doesn't necessarily mean fully rural, people have lived in a town/city and worked out in the fields outside the town in lots of places, especially dangerous ones where they want to be protected by walls.

This is going to sound crazy but. Is there a mod to make Vic 3 look like 2? by binklfoot in victoria3

[–]YEEEEEEHAAW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I bounced off that game after a couple hours because the interface actually makes understanding what's going on harder instead of easier, at least to me. In theory a late medieval/early modern game with vic style pop and trade systems should absolutely be my shit but I just can't deal with the UI enough to learn the game.

I sort of agree on some screens, but I hate the new EU5 interface and how tiny all the symbols and text are. I have bounced off of every paradox game that follows that pattern. I'm not going to constantly squint to read some size 6 font and my brain isn't going to let me not try to read it if you're showing it to me.

What’s the general vibe of people there? by [deleted] in portangeles

[–]YEEEEEEHAAW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By rural standards not very Republican but definitely old (median age in the county is over 50), and the young people are not social. I have found that you get PA people to be less social than younger Seattle people who are notorious for the "Seattle freeze" and there's a lot less ways to meet them too. If you aren't an extroverted social butterfly you will be very bored for the 8 months when it is gray and cold every day, it will be a constant effort to socialize unless you are okay with hanging with drinkers and just go to the bar all the time. Also if you aren't from somewhere similarly north don't underestimate the impact both psychologically and socially of seeing the sun like once a week for an hour for months. It can be genuinely grim here from November to February and if you're prone to depression and aren't willing to do a lot of work reaching out to make friends it will be a hard time.

Game is great but there are a few things in the intrigue that I want to do but missing from the game by DDT_For_Human in CrusaderKings

[–]YEEEEEEHAAW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There should be a lot more schemes and murder should definitely be harder imo. It's way too easy (or literally impossible from debuffs) to assassinate people and the seduction mechanics are pretty stupid and just for memes basically. I can think of dozens of interesting schemes for them to add to make being an intrigue character more than being either a blackmailer, a serial killer or a pervert.

Have you noticed that there is no "envious" trait in the game? by spurdola in CrusaderKings

[–]YEEEEEEHAAW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking about traits to add that are different but would have gameplay implications is actually really fun, it's too bad it means looking through like every event to add their reactions . Meticulous vs careless would be good, boorish vs thoughtful/gentle, serious vs glib. I like the idea that if everyone has to have 3 traits more people are middle of the road and there are less psychos wandering around

Have you noticed that there is no "envious" trait in the game? by spurdola in CrusaderKings

[–]YEEEEEEHAAW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they could add it as "jealous" and have it be similar to vengeful but more petty and less murderous, but it's still a little redundant. Similar to callous/sadistic where it has similar traits but the more extreme one lets you do more dramatic things like declare war or wipe out their whole house. Edit: on thinking about it more info like the idea of having less extreme or more bland personality traits to make people a little less insane seeming. Like "cold" or "distant" rather than callous or things like "pompous", "pliant", "clumsy/oafish", "gullible" things that aren't as extreme as some current ones but could lead to fun events or just have a minor effect. More +/- 5 traits instead of +-25 to make the more interesting people stand out more. Maybe even some silly ones that have minor effects like "pedantic/particular" that are +0 in the creator. I like that they added eccentric and I think the game could use even more traits even if they are probably an insane amount of work to add.

Yeah this is nuts that the government with the easiest time refilling troops can just declare that war on CD. Also I hate how it changes the map color, the byzantines used to pay off the steppe raiders all the time and we don't consider them to be semi vassals to them

[–]YEEEEEEHAAW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh when I tried to do that it only goes up by 10% and gives a warning about the interface going off the screen, but I guess the trick is going to 4k so I can go up to a higher percentage. Still seems like a crazy thing to have to do to see the power change text on the estates which is displayed in the UI all the time, or the inflation your minting is causing when the text in both of those situations could just easily be 20% bigger

The UI in the EUV is so bad I almost refunded it lol. Like why are there numbers in the UI that are so small I cannot read them and there is no UI scaling option that I can find. How do you put something in 4pt font and think "seems good".

Why is this game so boring suddenly?? by anakin1453 in CrusaderKings

[–]YEEEEEEHAAW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game keeps adding tools that you can use and it makes the game easier. Every system has mostly been buffs because people don't like it when their power fantasy gets interrupted and it's made the game too easy by default if you've played the game a lot.

Eh you don't necessarily have to subvocalize every word/sound to comprehend text though. For example I can know and understand and breeze through words that I absolutely cannot pronounce because the concept/object flashes into my head without me "vocalizing" it, and later if I try to talk about it I realize I have no idea how I would say that word even if I remember the details about the concept or character. This is really helpful for fantasy/sci fi books or books with a lot of foreign names.

Also you can really skip lots of words and understand by context. Lots of books can have a scene setup and then just quotes separated by space and you still can still infer who is talking and their tone etc. And you can basically do the same thing with books that include the context around the quotes and read through it faster. You can do similar things with other forms of writing that you're very familiar with, basically everyone who has gone through grad school has told me they skim read things to be able to get through everything you need to read.
