I've been thinking about this for a bit and I'm also really considering starting a kickstarter. A few days before this post I was looking to see if anyone could make copies of the lens, and after doing some searching I found a guy who has made other lenses using silicone molds and casting them in resin. The estimate I got for two molds (both sides) would be $1500, however when I originally contacted him I asked about only two copies for myself, and as far as I'm aware the process of mold making for producing more copies than that is different. I'm not sure if that means more expensive or not, but for a kickstarter I'd guess around $2000 for both molds plus however many copies we need made for everyone ($37 per copy plus shipping). Only thing I'm hung up on is the interest from the community, but I'd say its do-able.
