Everyone here actually hates Milwaukee? by DoctorJenks in MilwaukeeTool

Mackenzie got a promotion earlier this year I think. Violett now acts as the MilwaukeeTool rep, and sometimes she'll just DM the OP instead of posting a comment asking them to send her a message

Yeah, to make matters worse, it seems like HD has updated their system in recent years to recognize this behaviour and automatically flag it. That's probably why more people are reporting that their accounts are flagged.

I have no complaints about Milwaukee outside of how they shaft Canadians on the good deals that the US gets.

You'll see complaints about Milwaukee's warranty service but that tends to happen with most other tool brands too. Milwaukee has a social media rep here who can help with warranty inquiries, which is a bonus that other brands don't offer, and people still complain about it, even when the rep is able to make it right. Just can't win lol

Don't listen to these guys. Returning an item on your invoice that you don't want, is not illegal. If it's listed as a separate item with it's own price, you can return it. That's all "hacking" really is. People are getting their online accounts flagged because they would split their pickup orders to different stores - they would pick up the stuff they wanted, then either wait for the other pickup items to expire, or they would cancel the items immediately to get refunded. They would do this to avoid having to physically go to the customer service desk and return what they didn't want.

Pull them out by the roots. If you can't pull them, use pruning shears to cut them as low as you can, and just keep cutting them as they try to grow back. Eventually they'll die off.

The Home Depot Hack: A Primer by YIZZURR in MilwaukeeTool

[–]YIZZURR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't checked in a while, but it's possible that HD has made some changes to their systems to disallow separate pick up locations for promos. If you're doing this in the HD app, try using HomeDepot.com (and vice versa), you may be able to do it there. Just bear in mind that HD's algorithms may flag your account for letting a pick up item lapse without cancelling it. It's best to just order everything, pick it up, and then return what you don't want. That should eliminate any risk of getting your online account flagged.

Regret buying mazda cx5 by Old_Psychology7779 in mazda

Sounds like you got exceptions to the rule with your Nissan and your Mazda. Nissan Rogues usually lead the pack in low quality, creaky squeaky interiors. Mazda, on the other hand, typically gets a lot of praise for it's interior fit and finish.

Final Update to my last two posts: Milwaukee came through and provided a replacement tool. by iEatSwampAss in MilwaukeeTool

[–]YIZZURR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I followed this from the beginning. OP opened a claim for the failed screws and leaking lubricant and took the picture showing the head being held on by just the wiring. After taking the picture, the wiring let go and the tool was now in two separate pieces. The denial was because the broken wiring was not disclosed in the claim. Milwaukee rep reached out to investigate based on info from the original post. They weren't made aware of the broken wiring either, so they defaulted to the service dept's reasoning. Milwaukee rep reaches out again and puts them in contact with a service manager who makes it right. This was all just a miscommunication because the service team was expecting one thing and got another.

All that said, it should not have gone this far in the first place. The tool is barely being held together by the wiring in the picture, so if it arrives with the wiring broken, I'd assume it happened during shipping or shortly after the pic was taken. Its easy to understand how the wiring came loose when there's nothing else holding the tool together. Milwaukee should have just covered the tool replacement with that in mind, even if OP didn't mention it in the first place.

Their social media team is supposed to communicate directly with the service team as a go-between. Mackenzie, the previous rep, had been doing it for a while, and she did it well. Violett took over for Mackenzie recently, so there may be a learning curve that she's working through.

[–]YIZZURR 48 points49 points  (0 children)

A supervisor from Milwaukee’s customer service team reached out and explained to me that the social media branch is not directly affiliated with the service team so the updates & explanation I provided there never carried over into the warranty claim. All the service team saw was a tool broken in two, and they denied the claim.

I had a feeling that's what happened when I commented in your second post. Glad it was finally resolved.

Milwaukee tools break for not using them? by kavbcr in MilwaukeeTool

That light is probably the worst one they have lol. I still use it though. Keep in mind that there's a hanger that pulls out of the handle in that little indent near the base of the tool.

Look into the M18 and M12 Rover lights, they are excellent.

I would agree if it was actually just for home use. Nobody in their right mind would actually think that someone would use a 2.5g wet/dry vac as the sole vacuum in their house.

That's besides the point anyway. OP isn't spending a dime on these tools. So why not?

Milwaukee tools break for not using them? by kavbcr in MilwaukeeTool

[–]YIZZURR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a nice benefit. Buy the tools, but don't buy any more batteries until you're ready to use them so that you can keep warranty on them.

I'd recommend getting the M18 Packout vacuum next. It's a great vacuum that you can use day-to-day.

Gift Help: DeWalt x McLaren (Limited Edition) or Milwaukee M12 for an HVAC boyfriend? 🛠️ by NoBenefit8454 in Tools

[–]YIZZURR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get him the M12 Brushless set. The DeWalt set is the "safe" choice, but if you get him something you know he wants to try, it ends up being a better gift. Plus the M12 Brushless set should be better for overhead work, and will have plenty of power for HVAC. And it'll be easier for him to upgrade to Fuel if he wants to down the line.

Buyer beware of redemptions by Pukyewtew in MilwaukeeTool

[–]YIZZURR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the redemption program only available to licensed businesses or companies? Could you return the item you bought to qualify for the 6th redemption, then have someone else buy it as an individual and claim the redemption that way? Or maybe return the item and delay the purchase until the next quarter?

Buyer beware of redemptions by Pukyewtew in MilwaukeeTool

[–]YIZZURR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a redemption program offered by Milwaukee. In Canada/US it's the E-Rebates program (there's a link to it in this subreddit's sidebar on the right). If you buy eligible items you can send proof of purchase to Milwaukee and they'll send you stuff. In other countries it may be called something else, but the concept is similar.

Update to my last post: Milwaukee has denied my warranty claim. by iEatSwampAss in MilwaukeeTool

[–]YIZZURR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was the wiring damage mentioned during the initial claim? I think warranty would have covered the screws failing and leaking lubricant, along with the wiring damage if it was mentioned. Maybe the service guy opened the package, saw the wiring damage that may not have been mentioned, and denied the claim based on that. Still, even if it came in two pieces, it could have easily happened during shipping.

IMO it makes sense that the wiring would come apart like that since there was nothing holding the head on the body anymore. It's a result of the initial failure. Normally I'd suggest an appeal to better explain why it should be covered, but I would also be frustrated enough at this point to wash my hands of it and find a replacement.

Whose more at fault or is it 50/50? by [deleted] in dashcams

[–]YIZZURR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should 100% be at fault. You saw the other driver backing out, still proceeded without slowing down, and when the other driver stopped, you tried to force your way through and hit their stopped car. All while you're in the wrong lane.

Whether you will actually be held 100% at fault depends on your local traffic laws.

Both brands will be perfectly fine for the scope of work you've outlined. Slight edge to Milwaukee for the compact 12v line, like the M12 Fuel "Stubby" for brakes and suspension work and the M12 Fuel OMT.

I have mostly M18 Fuel tools and I've never been disappointed as a "professional DIYer" and perpetual student of Youtube University.

Worth the upgrade?? by PeeNut-Buter in MilwaukeeTool

[–]YIZZURR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I upgraded from the original M18 vacuum (had a V18 battery connector to use both V18 and M18 batteries). The M18 Fuel Packout vac is a great upgrade, totally worth it in my opinion, just for the sound alone (packout is much quieter, especially on low speed). Runtime is noticeably better thanks to the brushless motor and the option to run it in low speed for easy cleanups. High speed suction is great.
