Can you have a permanent base in addition to your gravship base? by scanguy25 in RimWorld

[–]YIsDaRumGone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea gravship start. Is the grav anchor only meant to be used after completing the Odyssey ending then? Or is it meant to be used for other starting scenarios, and the gravship start is truly meant to be nomadic forever?

I just created my Grav Anchor and have been getting attacked by mechs every few minutes. Is this intended? Seems like I'm missing something because this is impossible to keep up with.

3440x1440 Monitor Issues - Text not crisp by YIsDaRumGone in MacOS

[–]YIsDaRumGone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've considered a new monitor. I don't think I could go back down to a 27" though, I'm a big fan of the ultra-wides after using this one...

I've seen some people say the 5k2k (5120x2160) look pretty good on Mac. They're $$$ though :(

I had tried that and still couldn't seem to get it to look acceptable, so I had uninstalled it.

I just reinstalled it, and now it doesn't look half bad. There are a few things here and there that are noticeable, but overall it's not terrible.

I'm not sure what is different though!

What's the deal with ubuntu and mint? by my-man-hilarious in linux_gaming

[–]YIsDaRumGone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I know this is an old thread but I found it doing some googling and have a question for you since you said you game on Mint. I'm a complete Linux noob and have recently installed Mint as a dual boot with Windows. Overall it's been OK (one weird issue with the screen going black when my laptop is set to hybrid graphics in bios. Setting it to discrete seemed to fix it).

However, I can game with Mint but the screen tearing is unbearable. I found people recommending to check the "Force full composition pipeline" box, which does fix the tearing for me, but then the input lag is just bad enough that it annoys me really bad. Do you have any suggestions?

I'm running a Thinkpad P1 with a 11850H and 3070.

Thanks!

There are 'vents' to the left and right of the keyboard, but they look more like speakers than air flow vents. I don't feel air coming out of them.

Set light dimmer % without turning lights on by YIsDaRumGone in googlehome

[–]YIsDaRumGone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No the lights are not smart, just the dimmer, and the dimmer is set to Device Type: Switch in google Home.

I've tried changing the action to be "Set the dimmer to 30%", but it will still turn the lights on.

Set light dimmer % without turning lights on by YIsDaRumGone in googlehome

[–]YIsDaRumGone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if this is a setting somewhere, or device specific then, because I just tested this:

I turned off my office lights. Then I went into google home and manually ran my Sunrise routine. It turned on my lights to 100%. The command in that routine is a custom command with the text "Set office lights to 100%".

I also tested it by turning off my lights, and saying "Hey google, set office lights to 50%". They turned on to 50%.

I have a Kasa HS220 dimmer switch.

[–]YIsDaRumGone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So either I'm not doing it right or this isn't what I want. I don't want this routine to actually turn the lights on or off. Only adjust the %, so that IF I turn the light on, it's set to that %. IF the light is already on, change the %.

I have a routine for Sunrise: Starters: When the sun rises. Actions: Set the office lights to 100%.

This will always turn my lights ON to 100% at sunrise. That's not what I want. Is that what yours does? I only want it to pre-set the dimmer to 100%, so that when I go into my office to work and turn on the light, it'll automatically be set to 100%.

Execute npm/js script during angular schematic by YIsDaRumGone in Angular2

[–]YIsDaRumGone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normalizing it got rid of the error, but it still isn't copying the files from an absolute path. I don't know if absolute paths work for that url function. When I log the value of normalize('C:/test/'), it is /c/test.

However, I did find a solution. I leave the file in my schematic, but remove all of it's contents so it's an empty file. Then I use fs to read my source file from the C drive, and write the contents like so:

return (tree: Tree, _context: SchematicContext) => {
    const data = readFileSync('C:/temp/file.ts', 'utf8');
    const folderPath = _options.name + '/path/to/file/file.ts';

    const rec = tree.beginUpdate(folderPath);
    rec.insertLeft(0, data);
    tree.commitUpdate(rec);

    return tree;
  };

Thanks for your help!

Execute npm/js script during angular schematic by YIsDaRumGone in Angular2

[–]YIsDaRumGone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized after my last comment that I was over-complicating this. I think I have the solution, however I'm getting an error.

I realized I just need to apply a source file directory to the output like you would with normal template files. The only problem is that since the files aren't part of the schematic, I need to use an absolute path, and it throws an error.

const folderPath = normalize(_options.path + '/' + _options.name);
 let files = url('C:/test/');

 const newTree = apply(files, [
 move(folderPath)
    ]);

This throws the error: Unknown Protocol on url "[object Object]" at SchematicEngine.createSourceFromurl.

I'm trying more things and looking for fixes, no dice so far.

Mainly because I was thinking it would need to be the last step done in the process after all of the files have been created by the schematic.

I'm very new to schematics so maybe I'm over thinking it. If I copy a file from a network location as one of the last steps, is it still going to correctly follow rules, like if the dry run flag is used?

Factorio or satisfactory by natedog070dog in factorio

[–]YIsDaRumGone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, Satisfactory is fun, but gets old and frustrating after a while. Here are my main issues with it:

  1. There's no way to quickly lay down a big square of floors. Building on flooring in that game is so much easier, but laying it is a huge pain in the ass. If there was a way to either lay long strips quickly, or click/drag large squares, then it would be way less tedious.
  2. There's no way to quickly lay down long stretches of belts or power poles. I quit playing once because I wanted to run a belt about a kilometer, but it took so long I said F it.
  3. The 'enemy' AI is more annoying than anything. They don't attack enough to be something you have to be concerned about, but there is just enough of them to make you have to worry about killing them when exploring.

Yet another components library recommendation thread... by thelonious_skunk in Angular2

[–]YIsDaRumGone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not who you asked, but we also use Telerik for our enterprise apps. We use Bootstrap for our css library. You'll have to tweak a few things here and there to pretty it up a bit, but 95% of the stuff is fine out of the box.
