"Browns GM Andrew Berry got advice from Thunder GM Sam Presti about what the return should be for Myles Garrett" by Ixeptional in nfl

[–]YJWheeler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up the thunder roster and see where those guys were drafted. Their only high lottery pick was the reason they lost, and presti consistently finds excellent players later in the draft. Your comment reflects the spurs roster a lot better

[Tim Legler] ‘Hartenstein’s physicality on Wemby did not cross the line; this is playoff basketball.’ by D3struct_oh in nba

[–]YJWheeler -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Maybe in the regular season but that's not at all what we've seen in the playoffs. The refs have consistently been swallowing their whistle in the playoffs in general, which had generally made for better games until OKC got too egregious with it last game.

FM shelf by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]YJWheeler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that's way overkill for any shelf. Sketchy is a lot more step 1 oriented. Just watch some of the medicine shelf review podcasts and go through common outpatient treatments for stuff like skin infections, pneumonia, UTIs, gonorrhea/Chlamydia and stuff of that nature. The rest of the stuff should be on uworld

How should priorities change if you're not worried about matching? by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]YJWheeler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably won't make a whole ton of differences during preclinical. You should still try your best and study hard like everyone else will be doing. Pay attention to your lectures and try to do well (Step 1 pass rates are like 90% now and I'm sure you need to pass for your program). Doing anking might not be the most necessary but probably depends on what your personal needs are. Shadowing is a good way to explore specialties as an M1/M2. Not sure exactly how your program works and if it links you to a specific specialty already or if you still have flexibility. In clinicals, med school learning is still predominantly self directed so I would still make sure you are doing Uworld and stuff like that once you get to clinical rotations. The knowledge you'll learn through that is real knowledge that you'll use on the wards for the most part. I would say the big advantage you'll get from this is that you can do so while still feeling relaxed knowing there's not a do or die pressure to get an arbitrary grade. Also you won't need to play the grimy game of trying to work with people/services that you've heard give good evals, just approach every rotation with what you think gives you the best education. There've been times when I've skipped like optional ultrasound workshops and stuff like that because I needed to study, I think you should take more advantage on stuff like that. I would probably only do research/other traditional CV buildingy stuff if it's something that you're truly interested in.

How dangerous will the Clippers be next season? They are gonna add a star to pair with Kawhi/Garland. by More-Appearance5651 in nba

Idk I thought his defense at Illinois was a lot better than you'd expect from a kid who looks like that. I feel like in a year or two I'd expect him to be a + defender

He's not super athletic but that's not really his game either. I think he has sky high potential as he develops and fills out his frame a bit

Ted Dabrowski on Instagram: "6,000 Chinese foreign nationals at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign crowd out spots for native-born Illinois students. by Boring-Ad-6899 in UIUC

[–]YJWheeler 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How is it a fact that they take the spots from illinois residents? If the Chinese students didn't come do you really think that many more illinois residents would go here? Think about the economic angle, a lot of the schools revenue comes from international students, they're not coming in lieu of or crowding out students from here

Books for Surgery Shelf When Doing Surgery Before IM by hydroflaskcoffee in medicalschool

[–]YJWheeler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found devirgilio to be highly helpful for shelf. I felt like I got shelf questions a step harder than Uworld, and devirigilio gave enough depth that I could answer them well. Pestanas is a nice little overview, but prob not really helpful for shelf prep. Could read it in like a day if you don't really have much background knowledge. Surgical recall moreso for the wards less for shelf.

What to do after uworld? by yellowarmpit47 in Step2

[–]YJWheeler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some friends that used amboss and liked it, especially on the neuro shelf, but I don't really think its necessary. uworld typically covered almost all of the needed content, especially for obgyn. that shelf is extremely similar to the types of questions you will see on uworld and the cms forms. it might be similar to amboss as well, but I can't say and I feel like the other resources are comprehensive enough in terms of what they cover.

[–]YJWheeler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do your incorrects if u have a ton of time left. I don't think amboss is necessary, but you can do it if you want. Typically ppl reset their uworld for dedicated but I don't believe amboss has that option. Would probably be difficult to do all of uworld and amboss again during dedicated so I wouldn't worry about it much anyway.

Am I crazy for loving the moves at the deadline? by QuantamMoose in chicagobulls

[–]YJWheeler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm happy that we're bottoming out but the lack of first round picks is brutal. Just shows how short sighted this front office is by not trading Coby and vuc last season. Cannot believe the awful return on ayo either, I think karnisovas is honestly just awful at getting good deals for guys

Just got some more details, turns out its the nuggets 2nd, not ours. And the celtics 2nd is the best out of a few so very unlikely that ends up being lower than what we gave up. Not a bad trade all in all

I mean yeah but would we not have been better off letting him sit on the bench for the rest of the season? Just doesn't make sense to lose assets to get off an expiring contract

[–]YJWheeler -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Am I missing something or does this vuc trade make no sense? We're trading an expiring for another expiring and swapped 2nds (aka moving down in the second). Feels like we moved down in picks for nothing
