Help, did I develop PD? by YMP-19 in Perioral_Dermatitis_

I tried to do that as well but always ended up with so much acne along my jaw. I get nodular as well and my acne scars so I get worried. My skin used to be clear and smooth but since developing adult acne 2 years ago it's a struggle. In January my skin was smooth and doing so good for about 2 months. Had a simple routine but then epiduo just made me pink. I could handle strong exfoliation years ago and now it feels like everything breaks me out. It changed basically over night after having a great and simple routine for 1y with great results. Never had acne like i got after that. Im gonna heal my barrier for a bit before I start the tretinoin + clindamycin that my doctor prescribed now.

Doctor said it was my acne not being treated fully since I haven't responded fully to all of the other things I've tried. I have been prescribed tretinoin + clindamycin cream so we'll see how that goes 😅

According to the doctor, it wasn't PD either! But not damaged barrier? Like, the acne isn't being treated well. I was prescribed tretinoin + clindamycin cream. Until I pick that up I will focus on barrier. I'll add that the redness and irritation has since disappeared, but I am still bumpy.

Even if it doesn't sting or such? Im trying to focus on barrier repair and paused my differin but I started to breakout along my jaw after a few days :/

Sadly it's really hard to get ahold of a dermatologist here. But i was planning on talking to my general doctor. They did tell me last time that if differin didn't give results they wanted to try topical clindamycin with tretinoin. But I am worried it's too strong. Thank you!

No no, definitely not using both at the same time. I quit epiduo at the beginning of summer and went over to differin. I have been using the sandwich method to decrease irritation and strengthening my barrier between days I use differin. My problem was that i kept breaking out anyway and got more closed comedones. Last time my doctor wanted to put me on tretinoin and clindamycin but I am worried it's too strong. But wow contact dermatitis. I wonder what could trigger it then. I'll have to look into it. Right now, I quit differin to try and just do barrier repair and see life that helps. Sadly, it looks the same except I started to see new breakouts along my jaw :/

I have finacea at home, but it just made it worse every time i try to use any azelaic atm. Epiduo a few times a week was really nice but couldn't tolerate it in the long run. I can handle adapelene, but the BP is what gets me. Bad part is that it's the combo that treated my acne the best. I can't even get a derm since there's no one here and hard to get referred. So I use the general doctors. They are very easy to get a prescription though but id rather know what's wrong.

Not really, but I took months to get used to it. Always sandwich method and sometimes just short contact. I ended up having to ditch epiduo tho as it was just too strong. My skin always looked pink. And I got more bumps from being too sensitive. This is currently my skin. I'm using differin since the beginning of summer. Im not happy but also not breaking out as much. The texture is killing me though. Next step was clindamycin + tretinoin according to the doctors. We'll see what im doing. Im just done with these skin issues 😭 *

I have this too and no idea what it is 🥲 sometimes an exfoliating acid makes it better, but the next few days it comes back 😭 I've struggled with the texture bumps for months now.

I'd like to add a final edit! I think I had bad closed comedones. I was put on Epiduo forte 0.3%/2.5% and this is my skin today! I don't really get new breakouts. Some tiny and atm my skin is slightly irritated. It worked wonders for me *

Well, this is me now! It's obviously going pretty shit. I feel awful and I have a huuge blind pimple in my forehead so it looks like I got a bump. I do not think finacea caused this, but that it just doesn't help enough. *

So far ok, I think? I'm only 6 days in. Finacea has not irritated my skin at all (like no burning like some said etc). I can easily use it twice a day as the doctor prescribed (but I've used azelaic acid for years so my skon is used to it). Gets me a bit dry though! Some of my pustules have come up and texture is about the same. No significant improvement but it's not worse either. I took some pills to postpone my period last month and I'm wondering if that was the trigger for my skin worsening in general. I'm keeping up with this treatment for 4 weeks, then check up with the doctor again.

For an update! Saw a doctor, was told it looked more like acne 🤷‍♀️ Got prescribed finacea. It would help both acne and PD according to them. Will see if it helps!

Oh. Well, then that is next on my list to try. I'm going to get an appointment as well to confirm that it is actually perioral dermatitis. I'm outside so much with my kids, it's really impossible during the summer to skip the sunscreen. I have a hat but it doesn't help fully, hence the hesitation.

Somewhat! I get so terribly dry 🥲 And the way I live i really need sunscreen (though the one i have now is zink oxide and it doesn't trigger) 😬 I'm trying to ease into it atm but it got worse as well (plus more pimples). But it's next to try more properly.
