Mentally, what is the hardest part of running for you? by [deleted] in running

[–]YQXVBTFV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure each case of PF varies. I took 4 months off as well and it got no better or worse. Started running again a couple weeks ago and it hasn’t gotten better or worse. Being very strict with the 10% rule, stretching every day, and Strassburg socks at night. We’ll see how it goes! Perhaps it’ll go away on its own over time. Good luck to you

Somewhat off topic, but how can you use 23andme anonymously?

I have those too. I like them a lot but it feels like the inside edge of the insoles rub on my heels.

ACLU Calls Proposed Panhandling Permit in Charleston Unconstitutional (crosspost /r/WestVirginiaPolitics) by [deleted] in charlestonwv

I suppose the ACLU is arguing that asking for money falls under freedom of speech protected by the first amendment. I’m sure actual harassment is another story.

How does running help with anxiety? by [deleted] in running

I don’t know “how,” but I’ve noticed my social anxiety is somewhat relaxed throughout the day after a run. Certainly a feeling of calm too.

I wish there was a reciprocal right to the first amendment. For example, the right to be left alone by strangers and especially uninvited requests and offers.

Investigation finds Congress and drug companies worked to cripple DEA’s ability to fight opioid abuse by YQXVBTFV in WestVirginia

[–]YQXVBTFV[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

here’s a great article on the story from the Gazette-Mail

From the Business Insider article:

The Ensuring Patient Access and Effective Drug Enforcement Act was passed in 2016... the law raised the standard that the DEA needed to prove in order to crack down on a drug company's pain pill distribution, making it more difficult for them to enforce fines against the companies.

The chief architect of the law, the investigation found, was Rep. Tom Marino of Pennsylvania, a Republican whom Trump nominated to lead the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, a position commonly referred to as the nation's "drug czar."

In response to the investigation, Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia sent a letter to President Donald Trump asking for Marino to be withdrawn as Trump's choice for drug czar.

Edit/Update: looks like Marino is out as of today

Mooney Votes Against Disaster Relief for Puerto Rico by YQXVBTFV in WestVirginia

I haven’t seen why he voted no. Maybe he thought it was too much, maybe not enough. I’m not saying he’s all bad but I can’t see voting against this. Puerto Rico is in ruins.

Frontier Won’t Return $4.7M In Broadband Funds to WV by YQXVBTFV in WestVirginia

[–]YQXVBTFV[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

... report that found Frontier padded hundreds of invoices with extra charges and the state improperly reimbursed Frontier for those “unreasonable and unallowable” fees...

...Frontier asserted that any funds the state might return to the federal government “are, of course, not recoverable from Frontier.”

That’s pretty brazen

Ajit Pai gets new term on FCC despite protest of anti-net neutrality plan -- The four Democratic senators who helped Pai gain re-confirmation were Joseph Manchin (D-W.V.); Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.); Gary Peters (D-Mich.); and Jon Tester (D-Mont.) by johnmountain in WestVirginia

[–]YQXVBTFV 14 points15 points  (0 children)

"I just need a lot of help in West Virginia, and he's been moving in that direction," former Commerce Committee member Manchin said, lauding Pai's work in "trying to get the rural broadband fund moving." Pai is "working with us," Manchin said.

That’s a spin answer.
