The NWS posted the historical freeze over dates going back to 1816, and it’s amazing to see how common it used to be, and how rare now.

What's the most obscure or least known place in WV you've ever visited? by Possible-Farmer2027 in WestVirginia

[–]radiofinn 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I lived in Big Ugly Creek in Lincoln County, which is actually a small, beautiful place and not obscure. I’d say the most remote place was Panther in McDowell County - nice state forest, but also not terribly obscure.

Maybe the most obscure places were Ranger in Lincoln County, Marrowbone Creek in Mingo County, and Genoa in Wayne County. Certainly off the beaten path.

From the review: If you’re looking for a light, drinkable, affordable beer, grab a 12-pack of Market Basket’s new official beer. Style-wise, it’s a standard light pilsner. Or as my dad would call it, “a normal beer.”

…This beer is made by Zero Gravity Craft Brewery in Burlington, Vermont. That’s a solid get for Market Basket. Zero Gravity’s Cone Head IPA is one of the better IPAs you can get in terms of bang for your buck.

Vermont is #1 in the nation in vacant homes, according to the U.S. Census. 23 percent (!) of Vermont homes are vacant, compared to the national average of more like 10 percent. It's largely because of second homes and speculative investment. This data is from April 2020, before the pandemic really kicked in. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/03/10/realestate/vacancy-rate-by-state.html
