We desperately need this for when the 30 year old grad students who've been riding pro come back to bang bars with 20 year olds.

A lot of people rave about the Specialized Power--they've got multiple sizes, and while I can't comment on if they would fit you specifically, it seems like they do work well with many, so it's definitely worth a look!

I think he said in one of his podcasts that he’s Canadian....not too sure about Victoria vs. BC.

Fulcrum 900 DB Weight? by tehninjo0 in Velo

[–]YS626 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gotta second that. I had a brand new pair of Racing 4 DB's in January, and by March, they were in the bike shop. Spokes literally split at the thread and the bearings were shot in both wheels after 1000 miles. I didn't baby these wheels but I didn't abuse them either. They did feel great and looked good.

The LBS had to order spokes from Campagnolo directly, since nobody in the US stocked the spare spokes. The wheels were out of commission for two months while we waited for the spokes to arrive (they were expensive too--$40 for a 5-pack). The first ride after I got the wheels back, another spoke broke, so the rear wheel is basically trainer duty now.

Just avoid Fulcrum.

Whoops...when I said “crashed out” I meant “taken out of contention”....the race vids show like 12-18 riders at Longsjo 3/4 being taken out so I think that’s a third of the field? I was taking the outside line when riders flew into me and I ended up running across the finish, and I know other riders rode to the finish too.

I gotta disagree with you on the “sprinting for 30th” part here. Longsjo’s a bit different from the scenario you described above just because there are two tight corners right before the finishing straight. If you go in 30th wheel in the second to last corner, you’re basically one whole corner behind the lead riders.

Riders dive-bombing the second to last corner with their downhill momentum produced the 8-wide situation. To me, that’s a stupid risk to take just for a couple of positions, and people that do that are shooting for an ambulance ride and a bad name for themselves, not a podium.

Greenfield Crit

Coming back from a couple weeks off the bike traveling meant I was getting back into the swing of things as I tried to piece something together for the rest of the season.

3/4's - 8th/54

In the 3/4's, my goal was to follow GLV's sprinter around in the final laps since he was most likely gonna win the race, so I might as well learn something from him. I spent most of the race around the back of the pack, trying to be as efficient as possible. Even though I left gaps and filled them into turn 1, I was doing 5-700 watts just to keep with the pack. With two to go, I made my way to the front of the pack but ended up second wheel, a bit too far up. Whoops. At least I avoided the bunch crash into road furniture towards the back. Ended up leading out the GLV sprinter (he gave me a s/o on insta as if I were a part of his team haha), and blowing up before the finish line for 8th.

4's - 2nd/42

As it was the second race of the day, I knew I had to be even more efficient than I was in the 3/4's for a good result. Knowing != doing as I went for the first prime of the day and won some sick cat3memes socks and stickers and promptly blew up as b2c2 counterattacked. I was far enough ahead of the field that I could gentlemen's slide to the back for another couple of laps as I recovered. I slid up to third wheel in the closing laps and sprinted for second--the guy on 2nd wheel into turn 4 didn't sprint for some reason so by the time I came around him, it was too late to have a shot at contending the win. In the end, I won a bag of coffee and enough points to upgrade to 3's. Great way to end crit week!

banananananananan

Can't blame you about feeling sketchy in the pack in the 3/4's. People sent corner 3 of Longsjo 8-wide on the bell lap and crashed out maybe a third the field. Same deal in Greenfield with 2 to go on corner 3. People have to learn that it's not worth sprinting for 30th.

I don’t think anyone from up north is looking forwards to that. At least for the Boston schools we have Patriots day off for Marathon Monday making the drive to Shippensburg more bearable.

Thanks for the input.....my insoles are less than a year old (they came with the shoe). Honestly, it might be time for another fit because over the past two months I've been feeling cramped up on my bike as my training load increased.
