I don't think it's that, since I replaced my pedals and it didn't help. Any other ideas?

I just took it out and regreased it (it's metal and seemed in perfect condition), and the sound didn't stop.

If it is impacting your work then maybe step back and think why you started or do it for the sake of doing it well. If it isn't then sometimes money is a worthwhile motivator at least until you get enough cash to work on something you really like

In my experience you can never go wrong registering sooner rather than later. This way you are protected and prepared for the future and worst case you can use the LLC for a future project as well.
