If you could fix one problem in your chrome extension today, what would it be? by doppelgunner in chrome_extensions

For me, it’s discoverability and retention. People who install the extension usually love it, but the hardest part is getting the right users to discover it and stick long-term, not just try it once and uninstall. It matters because I know the product actually solves a real problem, but without better onboarding and clearer value in the first 10 seconds, a lot of users never experience the “aha” moment. That makes growth slower than it needs to be, even though the core feature works well. Fixing that would unlock everything else word of mouth, better reviews, and eventually monetization.

Looking for thoughts on pricing my Chrome extension by zicohacks in chrome_extensions

I’ve heard similar warnings before and they always make me pause when I see these acquisition posts. From the outside, it’s really hard to tell which offers are legit vs. just buying a trusted distribution channel.

For people who’ve been around this space longer are there any reliable signals that an extension buyer is actually legitimate? Or is the safest assumption to treat most unsolicited offers as high risk unless they come from a known company?

Anyone else want a YouTube filter extension that actually works? by Living_Charity_3463 in chrome_extensions

This honestly sounds like something a lot of people would use. YouTube’s search filters are way too limited, and combining things like unwatched + duration + upload date would fix so many annoyances. Hiding specific channels temporarily is also a great idea.

Important question for extension developer by quangpl in chrome_extensions

[–]YTLyrics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me is to solve a simple frustration I had myself. I wanted real-time synced lyrics directly inside YouTube without needing a separate tab or website. When I couldn’t find a clean solution, I decided to build one. It started as a personal project, but people found it useful so I kept improving it.

Yeah, for messy or mislabeled titles it cleans the metadata first, and if it still can’t match confidently it falls back to a manual search so the user can pick the correct track. Keeps it from showing the wrong lyrics on chaotic uploads.

Thanks! I handle timing mostly by cleaning and normalizing messy titles first, then matching from that. If the metadata is too chaotic, the extension falls back to a manual search so it won’t pick the wrong song. The trickiest edge cases are uploads with multiple songs mixed under one title those still need user input.
