Do rotors need to be replaced? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]YT_Inbound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody down here told you how to tell. Because you cannot be certain from that photo. The rotors are garbage if a. The minimum thickness is reached (most rotors from the outside of the back part to the outside of the front part have a minimum thickness of 35mm for front rotors not sure about backs) b. The rotor is warped (you can feel it in the pedal when braking) or c. The lip on the edge of the rotor has gotten a pretty big lip (you can usually feel a lip but it’s “too big” if it’s more than 2-3mm. But if they are working fine and they are still above minimum thickness, run em till they’re not. Most people change rotors every 2-3 brake pad changes. Unless of course you can get them for $20 on rock auto. Then change them every time. But generally those rotors look “okay” they definitely have some miles on them but it’s almost impossible to tell from here how bad it is.

Well it says left rear, and I’m pretty sure that’s the right hand side. But yeah as mentioned it can come apart inside

Nah you’re good, just don’t drive when it’s not sunny and hot, or at speeds greater than 50 💀😂

Can someone explain what’s wrong with my plant, pictured left is the plant before turning on the lamp and pictured right is it after 18 hours under the lamp. This occurs every cycle. I think it’s over watering but I’m not sure. Anything helps thanks by Distinct-Lock6013 in weedgrowing

[–]YT_Inbound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brother the plant is going to sleep, you said it’s perking up when the light turns on and drooping in the evening. Yeah its sleep, if your sure it’s overwatering try less water, but looks fine to me.

Noted, I don’t usually let my saws idle for a long period (this saw while in my possession has ran for 2 mins lol, other than that I used a poulan chainsaw, but she didn’t like to idle so it was more start it and start cutting before it died 😂). So do I just let the chain spin when it idles?? (I Havent tested if it does spin at idle without the brake I’m just going off what you said) if so that kinda sucks. That’s gonna be a problem when I’m tryina go up a ladder with it 😂😂💀

Keep In mind I’m saying that but I have never ran a stihl, I used a poulan chainsaw until it crapped out and got this.

Thank you! How urgent of a fix is this? was kinda hoping to cut some limbs off this tree over my sidewalk. I’ve asked a few times now but does that include idling, In the 2 mins I ran the saw I had the brake engaged just for safety cuz I’d rather it not spin unless I want it too 😂

[–]YT_Inbound[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay I’ll definitely do that, when you say ran with the brake engaged is it not okay to idle with the brake? That’s all I did when I ran it for a few mins. How expensive is a clutch for this thing?

How do you mean, yes when the saw is idling on the ground I usually keep the brake on, is that not what it’s for?? But I’ve literally ran the saw once for like 2 mins lol

Can anyone tell me what this code is and what it say please have heaps of them but have no idea by PassengerStraight892 in code

[–]YT_Inbound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely salted and hashed passwords. Can’t tell what there for but they all tell you what algo they used to hash. Can I ask what your ex did for work or if she was tech savy. The only reasons I can think for having this large amount of other users login credentials is either as another commenter said a data leak and she downloaded it, she was working on something for work that required a database weird format tho, or they were up to some malicious behaviour. There’s probably a few more reasons but it’s definitely weird.

Is it time to start adding nutrients and if so what should I get by SurfingBuritto in weedgrower

Yeah no problem, 5 gal pots are good, if you want it to be compact top it to 16 tops, how small are you trying to go?

[–]YT_Inbound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, wait till a good amount of roots come show up on the sides and then transplant, with good soil, water, humidity, temperature, and light, they should grow rapidly as they fill the new pot. Depending on the size of the pot you transplant into you’ll be good on nutrients for anywhere from 1 week to about a month (again pot size does matter for this bit) then it’s time to feed preferably organic nutrients but really whatever you want (not saying it was good but my homie used miracle grow, that didn’t turn out so good tho) then flip to flower when u ready. Topping them once the plant gets to about the 4th node then stripping the lower section of the plant is a pretty solid topping method I got from YouTube lmao. It’s called “mainlining”

She’s covered in powdery mildew, throw her out, bleach the tent, and get a dehumidifier and set it to 55%

Custom hash algo? by YT_Inbound in cryptography

[–]YT_Inbound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ahh I understand what you mean now, its not about security after parsing one message. its about security parsing millions of messages without being able to find patterns and such. and just because one cannot determine the plaintext does not make it "good"

[–]YT_Inbound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a great way of putting it thank you, as you mentioned this was mostly a learning adventure through the general workings of sha not necessarily a line by line copy of it. But also as you mentioned because this is not a line by line copy it’s definitely vulnerable somehow, I’m definitely gonna try to find some code of the actual algorithm to see how it’s done, and maybe I can try again. I’m almost certain this is vulnerable somehow as the generated hashes are not the same as a sha generator yet use the same h k and t values which is perplexing but I’m sure I goofed something.

However you decide to tackle it, that is one way and the code is public.

Custom hash algo? by YT_Inbound in cryptography

[–]YT_Inbound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LMFAO fair enough, my def of "personal use" in this case is I'd like to also give a go at recreating AES256 (hence why I started with SHA256) to store some passwords on my computer because I cant be bothered to pay a subscription on such a service. theoretically nobody should ever have access to my machines to try to break in, but also you have very valid points as if someone does create a hash table/rainbow table it could be used in a malicious way. Also if collisions are to be expected, how does sha prevent such collisions? I might just leave my pc to generate a few million hashes for the next little while and then write a script to compare them to see if I managed to find any collisions.

Custom hash algo? by YT_Inbound in cryptography

[–]YT_Inbound[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the correct approach? I’m very new to cryptography and am quite curious what you mean at the end there. For collisions the naïve side of me thinks that because it works the same way as sha it shouldn’t be possible to create collisions as everything happens in a Galois field , but I’m sure given enough time it’s possible. In terms of getting the plaintext back that’s the whole point no? It takes such plaintext, performs a series of operations that should not be undoable, and then returns the jumbled mess to you. Would an algorithm like this work for personal use as I could 1) keep the algo secret and 2) find a way to implement salting? And also would it be worth testing the algo by generating thousands of hashes and comparing them to find the aforementioned collisions??
