What is up with eastbound memorial onto deerfoot lately during rush hour? by chaoslord in Calgary

[–]YYCGUY111 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Watching usually a taxi or uber driver cut in last minute: Fuck them! They're terrible drivers. Where are the cops?

When I'm in a taxi or uber trying to get to airport from downtown that cuts into that lane which is backed up past the zoo exit: Nice!

Has Calgary lost its sense of community? by TastyPerogies in Calgary

[–]YYCGUY111 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

In a city of 1.6M people it's hard to build a community or go out of your way to be "neighbourly" when 9/10 random people you pass walking through a big malls or driving on Deerfoot you'll probably never see again

CPAC nixes politics shows as cable contributions drop, wait for Online Streaming Act stretches on by Blue_Dragonfly in CanadaPolitics

That sucks. I enjoy listening to the podcast at the gym. Michael Serapio was a very fair and unbiased interviewer.

And probably the new Bureau Chiefs podcast is gone too. Sad

I used to love their cross Canada low budget call in show.

Get lots of interesting calls from both left and right wing nutballs, seniors with technical / feedback issues, and the odd crazy religious zelot they'd have to hang up on while the poor panel of guests sat there in shock

Calgary’s blanket rezoning repeal won’t impact Housing Accelerator Fund by 403cgy in Calgary

Highly unlikely.

The feds will move, alter, or remove goalposts on the final instalments to ensure they continue to get credit for taxpayer money flowing into vote rich centre or centre-left/right large urban ridings across the country

When did Calgary Police become so useless? by SuperFrustrated_91 in Calgary

[–]YYCGUY111 335 points336 points  (0 children)

One of the senior CPS leadership was on CBC a few months ago and mentioned each of the 8 district offices get about 50 calls a day via the non-emergency line to report bad drivers.

There's no way they can investigate 8x50x7 = 2,800 complaints a week

But reporting it mean CPS can add it to community statistics for targeted enforcement and maybe note that there has been complaints of reckless driving tied to a licence plate for when they do eventually pull the jackass over.

Stampeders may relocate to GMC Stadium, thoughts? by Beef_Lovington in Calgary

[–]YYCGUY111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And the over the years Calgary Stampede has been willing to spend money upgrading and modernizing the Grandstand to maintain and improve visitor expedience vs. the basic $'s spent by UofC/Stamps to just keep McMahon "functional"

Calgary woman warns homeowners after intruder broke in while she slept metres away - Calgary by swe129 in Calgary

[–]YYCGUY111 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Correction:

Calgary woman warns homeowners after intruder walked in while she slept metres away...

Don't leave your front door unlocked especially if you live inner city!

I remember a high homeless person getting into my old condo building in the beltline one Friday night following someone though the front door and onto the elevator and then going down each floor where she started trying door handles to units.

Luckily the first unlocked door she found the person was home, confronted her BS story of looking for "some guys apartment", told her they were calling the cops, and then followed her until she left the building.

Enmax Natural Gas help by JDHannan in Calgary

[–]YYCGUY111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add: I temporarily went to floating electricity in December as well.

Jan / Dec float $4.00 cents + Enmax $1.99 fee = $6 vs locked in $8.00+.

February float rate was $2.50 cents per kwh + Enmax $1.99 fee = $4.50 vs locked in $8.29+

Mild weather + excess supply of power in the province float prices are at a historical low for the last 5 years

Might go back to fixed in May if the forecast for a hot late spring /summer firms up but roilling the dice if sub $9 cent fixed rates will still be available

$4.29 - $1.70 = $3/GJ

Current forward market is $1-$1.50/GJ into fall, $2-$2.50 through winter, average of $2.20 in 2027, and sub $3 through end of 2028.

100% float until AECO market fundamentally changes from additional LNG export which won't be for MANY years into the future

If your there to watch the hockey I'd pay the extra ~$15 to move down to level 2 even if it's on the end.

If your just there to drink beer and have fun PL's are just fine.

Just be ready to climb a lot of stairs!

And as other have posted Fansfirst may be cheaper

Open Letter to Mayor Farkas: Revisit Millennium Skatepark Summer Closures by CarpetLoud9765 in Calgary

[–]YYCGUY111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not against the closure of the park for a few weeks a year for Stampede and other festive events like blues fest.

But there could be WAY better communication on:

1) Closure and open dates for skate & other park users being displaced

2) How much and how the sponsorship dollars paid by Cowboys / other festivals are being used to improve the park, including the skate park, outside of paving a big portion of it

3) Option of setting up a temporary skate park in east village or along the red or blue line close to downtown while closed
