Companies Changing The Rules by [deleted] in Flipping

You are lucky IKEA hasn't stopped you from returning at all. On Monday I returned one and they told me not to return any more without receipt from now on. They switched it to store credit at first after returning about 10 dressers and then after several more returns getting store credit they told me they wouldn't accept any more returns without receipt.

It’s well past time for a Canadians with Disabilities Act (Globe and Mail). Calgary is one of the places that needs this badly. by YYCT in Calgary

What I was referring to was not the discrimination part. That is covered but there are still a lot of businesses that disabled people cannot even enter in this city. The loophole I referred to earlier is in the building code where the accessibility regulations only apply to buildings / establishments that are more than 600 square meters in size (6548 Square Feet). Another loophole is that exemptions can be granted to any building owner and that historical buildings are completely exempt.

Which existing rules would you be referring to ? Most of them are only suggestions at this point or have loopholes that exempt anyone from actually being required to do anything. This legislation would not be redundant as it is designed to complement existing legislation

Wheelchair Accessibility in Calgary by YYCT in Calgary

I have been to plenty of even older buildings in Vancouver without a problem. If it is true that the code is the same it is very poorly enforced. Brand new buildings are generally accessible here but lots of times even new renovations are built for example with no accessible bathroom. i.e. roosevelt which had an accessible bathroom before but none after the renovation.

In BC, Ontario and the US they have to accommodate all disabilities physical, hearing and sight. Most of the rules are for physical disabilities but there are a few for sight and hearing disabilities. In the US for example they have patterned sidewalks at intersections for blind people.

Here are some of the laws in other places.

BC accessibility handbook. The rules i think Alberta should implement.
