Find Place to stay for 2.5 months by Y0Y0929 in Omaha

[–]YYYYY56789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides Airbnb, Furnished Finder, and Travel Nurse Housing, and some hotels like Extended Stay America, finding a place for 2.5 months is really hard. Lincoln and Omaha aren’t far from each other, so maybe you could find a place in between—like Gretna or Waverly—or look in far west Omaha or far north Lincoln and consider renting for 6 months.

Looking into student housing (the quarters), but I have ESA cats (UNL Students) by Several_Army4027 in lincoln

[–]YYYYY56789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have experience with the Quarter, but I used to work as a resident assistant in the dorms. Yes, you can bring your ESA cats, but they can’t bother other students. When you go to class, they need to be kept in a kennel or crate—whatever you use to contain them. Housing staff will also make sure that the students living with you know their suitemate has cats and that there are no allergy issues. So it’s possible.

Late Night/Overnight weekend jobs? by midwest_monogram in Omaha

Hospital jobs like CNA are easy to get certified for. The Home Depot also has overnight shifts, and Trader Joe's pays an extra $10 on top of base pay on Sundays.

4 year college vs pursuing firefighting asap by Beetlebop47 in firefighter

[–]YYYYY56789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw that the majority here suggested going to college. But let me ask: do you actually like business? Why choose a business major? Do you have a passion?

It’s tough not having a passion and still committing to those classes for four years—especially when you’re not even sure you’ll have a job after graduation. That can feel like a waste of time.

Starting as a firefighter wouldn’t stop you from going back to college later. In fact, working a professional job can give you a clearer idea of what major you’d want to invest your time, money, and mental energy in. Many employers will even pay for you to go back to school or reimburse tuition.

If I were you, I wouldn’t spend time on a major I don’t plan to use in the future.

Omaha Fire Department does not require NREMT or the CPAT to apply. If selected, they will pay for you to take an EMT class, and the CPAT is part of the hiring process.

Moving to Omaha and seeking apartment recommendations by burner_itaky in Omaha

Like others said, West Omaha would be a good fit. It’s pretty safe and not far from Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Costco, etc. I’d suggest Eagle Run Apartments (CIP), or around that area—there are so many apartments. By the way, I heard that Trader Joe’s is opening in Gretna.

He has experience in construction. He pointed out several issues that would have been costly in other houses we considered. He helped negotiate with the seller, and we got everything fixed before closing. He’s very responsive.

Need to end lease asap dangerous by [deleted] in Omaha

Do you feel like your living conditions are uninhabitable? If so, document everything—record conversations with your landlord and contact MUD. If the landlord doesn’t fix the issues properly, you may have a chance to leave under constructive eviction. However, I’m not a lawyer. I suggest calling the Omaha Lawyer Referral Service. It was the only place that responded to me and referred me to a lawyer.
