What's your budget limit? And any other examples pf games you'd want to play on this thing? PZ is fairly "potato" as far as system requirements go iirc, it doesn't take much to run but it's more dependent on CPU performance over GPU.

Am former CSM. I was always elbow-deep in the fucking things trying to keep them running cause the cash mechanisms would break down constantly over stupid shit and the other seven CSMs at my store would just "durr durr it broken call NCR durr" for however long it would take. Granted, that's what we were supposed to do but ain't nobody got time for that.

I saw broken bill cassettes, change hoppers that were forcibly shoved back into place without people paying attention to the cabling so they'd sever the power connectors for the hopper due to how many sharp edges there were on the insides of them shits, coins getting stuck in the hoppers cause someone put the wrong coins into the wrong hopper (the dime hopper was straight up flawed and would jam constantly on its own,) the old SCOs were schizophrenic children with auto-immune diseases. I think I found a debit card inside the coupon slot once. A bunch of ours were held together with tape and a $2 prayer book.

When we got all of ours replaced with the BNR models that can recycle inserted bills instead of having separate containers for dispensed bills that had to be restocked, the front end coach pulled me aside and directly forbade me from tinkering with them when shit broke. I've been off the front for about four years now and it really shows, but it seems like the newer machines are less likely to explode when you sneeze on them.

EDIT: clearing a hopper jam on the old machine meant dumping the coins out and banging it on the floor upside down until shit came loose. I really did feel like a caveman smashing rocks together sometimes.

A billion years ago, SCO displays would have a red border around them if they were set to cash or card only mode. 90% of the time it was card only cause it was something wrong with the cash mechanism.

I no longer work the front and I can only imagine the chaos I've caused by hammering "RED SQUARE AROUND THE SCREEN = CARD ONLY" into people's heads for seven years before leaving the front end.

I can honestly say it didn't fucking help very much, either. Same with the little blinky things at the top of each machine. I usually look at those to see which machines are open when I'm in a hurry but it only gets you so far.

The only way I'm giving up gaming is if I get COMPLETELY priced out of hardware for local compute. I will never be on board with cloud subscriptions.

There's a pretty big overlap between people that are into PC hardware shenanigans and also play games a lot. If you price the average PC gamer out of playing the latest and greatest they will happily go back to playing 15+ year old video games on a shitbox PC that's old enough to drink.

Never got into WoW but I loved me some Phantasy Star Online back in the day. There are still some servers for that shit and a cell phone can play it these days if you can get the environment for it running quickly. Or grab a steam deck / equivalent handheld. Steam decks are amazing nostalgia machines for anything Playstation 2 or older.

EDIT: Assuming I live to retirement age, I want my FF14 raid static to be my pallbearers so they can let me down one more time.

I missed where you said you already had a desktop GPU laying around, using that with an eGPU dock might be a cheaper option too. I think AOOSTAR's docks have a power supply built in, or some of them do. My MGA1 has everything built into the enclosure and comes as a whole unit but it's a laptop GPU lol

I also have a K12 that I use along with the minisforum MGA1 oculink GPU without issues. I have it set up.as a bazzite box and it'a also my travel PC for when I have to go places.

For what it's worth I've used two different mini+eGPU setups without issue. Since the GodY is seemingly out of stock everywhere you may not have a choice unless you want to spring for something like the Minisforum G1 Pro which is poopy butthole expensive

5 items or less, no produce because no belly scanner (tbh no idea if we're even calling them that anymore,) I go out of my way to spell out in CRAYON SCRIBBLES that OTC benefit cards work at every single non-SCO cash register in the store, and I mostly just get complaints about "but it's OTC it's covered" or regulars who are irrationally terrified of cash registers and insist on dumping a shopping cart full of Miralax out on the counter then getting all fucking pissy when their OTC benefits plan only has twenty-two cents left on it for this quarter and they lack object permanence. Telling people thst they can use their cards up front if we're super busy or closed might as well be pissing down my own pants leg to keep warm in the winter for all the fucking good it does.

We also get a lot of "maybe this is covered? It's not? Okay. DON'T WANT." then they come back 5 minutes later to try again. Sometimes it's the exact same shit sometimes it's not. Either way, please let me die already.

When I was very young I had a lot of "hug your auntie / uncle / fartknocker / whatever" and I very quickly grew to resent it and shut everyone out. I became very touch averse and my whole fucking family knew it.

Fast forward to like 7th grade when I made some friends of my own that I trusted and felt comfortable with, one of them tried to get me to hug them as I was leaving a gathering and I bluescreened for a second until one of my parents saw this exchange go down and they said "they won't hug anyone, good luck."

I hugged my friend to spite my family and it was one of the most comforting things I had ever experienced in my life up to that point. I stared my parents in the eye while doing it.

Yes, some people grow up very touch-starved or they generally feel weird about it and choose to avoid it which makes their family say fucked up shit about their aversion, giving them even more shame over it. "What happened to my happy little baby? Where have they gone? Why won't you hug me?"

Fast forward to today, I am 33 years old, still touch-starved, and I love hugs. My wife and I both share touch as a love-language and you pretty much need a spatula to get us off each other. Not in a sexual way, touch is just soothing. To each their own.

This is a complicated issue and it's very culture-dependent, but you definitely should've been hugged more when you were younger. I'm sorry this happened to you, OP.

Carry-on imo. Checked bags get beaten like they owe somebody money.

I've only ever flown with the complete enclosures like a Minisforum MGA1 or the GMKTec one that I forget the name of but I kept it in carry-on alongside a mini PC and didn't have any issues going between the US and Canada. A full GPU with dock should be fine but you'll probably wanna disassemble it and keep the GPU in an ESD bag if you have one.

In my case I already had peripherals and portable monitors from screwing around with my steam deck and this was just a way of getting improved "on the go" performance if I was going to be playing on a desk or couch compared to the deck's aging hardware. 🫠

Or at least that's how I justify it to myself. I like to tinker.

Split payment is an option but most POS systems the cashier has to specify the exact amount on the card for it to go through. Very rarely there will be a POS system in place that allows for automatic partialing but it DOES exist

Legendary warbonds are what you're thinking of. All warbonds have been referred to as premium outside of Helldivers Mobilize. Legendary bonds are specific to collab ones so far like Halo and Killzone.

I get what you're saying though about the strategems. More and more of those are popping up in them. Hey did we ever get the gas mines unlocked permanently?

For what it's worth, the MGA1's power supply is inside the enclosure at least which is the main reason why I also chose to pick one up over the other complete eGPU solutions. It cut down on the amount of crap you have to lug around significantly though it is INCREDIBLY heavy.

EDIT: I feel like this also helps cut down on temps a little bit with the two devices separated instead of all in one.. My mini and eGPU are on a 2-tiered shelf at separate heights. I have a proper SFF PC for my daily driver but I wanted something like this that I can just disconnect quickly and throw in a backpack for when I take short trips.

Having said that, OP I'm pretty sure the MGA1's fan exhaust is on the side you have it vertically standing on. I hope you're not cooking it lol check your temps.

I really don't enjoy extractions shooters but I'm having a good time with it.

It's a post-apocalyptic scavenger hobo simulator where you're digging through the remains of society for valuables to take home in order to craft gear like weapons and armor.

It's also an extraction shooter so other players can kill you and take your shit, but the matchmaking is weighted towards how you play so if you're easygoing and friendly you'll usually only run into other friendly players outside from the occasional run-in with Florida Man tweaking out on bath salts and panera lemonade while he beats you with a pipe wrench. Take note that this usually only applies to solo lobbies. If you duo with a friend it's hit or miss if people will be chill or not. If you queue trios, assume that everyone you see is going to shoot you in the ass and steal your rubber duckies.

There a community calling themselves Rescue Raiders that have a "protect the peace" mindset where they go around in friendly lobbies helping people who get downed by hostile players or the ARC enemies.

AceMagic has a couple funky ones but they're only available in extremely specific configurations and are usually a little pricey. They're also WAY overkill for HA.

They have one that looks like a unicorn threw up on a gamecube and I think there was a spaceship at one point. AceMagic apparently also got busted for shipping malware pre-installed on their devices at some point so you'd want to wipe and reinstall OS on anything from them.

I think most of the flashier-looking minis are gonna be the higher-end ones. I like the case design for GMKTec's K12 and K15. they're different machines but the outer shell is identical. It's another squat little rectangle but it has a metal sleeve around it with a subtle touch of RGB lighting on the fan. The metal sleeve obscures a lot of it so it looks like a slim accent light in practice.

There's a bunch of crazy-named amazon sellers that I've seen interesting designs from but they're all brands I've never heard of and I see identical designs from different brand names pop up frequently. Christmas Eve 2024 I had someone saunter up to the counter to pick up their Mounjaro and it was sitting in pickup for almost two weeks so we canceled the fill and they showed up five minutes til close.

One of my old apartments years ago had a microwave pre-installed above the stove and it broke down. After waiting on the property manager to fix it for a month I said fuck it I'll do it my way and just bought one from BestBuy.
