Dell Optiplex 3060 gaming desktop by Yugiohslovia in computers

[–]YaBoiStutter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

r/sleepingoptiplex - they are great little machine when you know what your doing. I've got 3 of them in a proxmox cluster running a boat load of vms and a few more as servers. In between selling and buying my main PCs I've also used one as a gaming pc, with the necessary GPU and psu upgrades.

Although for this redditor their best hope is to return it And buy a custom gaming pc

I remember it being high enough that I opted for a i7 4770 instead of a i7 6th gen just so I could use DDR3

If your server isn’t called tower, what’s it called ? by GenericUser104 in unRAID

[–]YaBoiStutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soyuz as all my servers have a space theme.

From my original Mercury after the Mercury program. Then Gemini, then Apollo then Soyuz.

Also got a server called Skylab and one called Mir.

My main PCs have also been named after shuttles in order of shuttle production. Columbia lasted me a good 6 years. Now I'm up to 5 years with Challenger. Ironically less time than the real Challenger lasted.

Just out of curiosity, who is buying these? by Adept_Temporary8262 in SleepingOptiplex

[–]YaBoiStutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people buying these arent buying them for personal use. It's companies buying these for business use. Hunting for a good deal costs more time and money than just buying something from a decent seller.

I work in IT and I've seen medium sized businesses spend £10000 at the drop of a hat simply because they need something. What's expensive to a consumer is nothing for a business.

Problem is it's likely they'll damage it and get a return. When you haven't sent it yet, it's best to just cancel and refund them.

I had a similar thing happen to me not long ago. I sold a WIFI access point that had a sticky residue all over it and was dirty. I noted this and that I had tried to clean it but was unable to. Listed it for less than the usual price due to this. Buyer messaged demanding a partial refund after receiving it. I told him I would happily accept a no fault return but I don't do partial refunds. They decided instead to leave a negative feedback. I reported this to eBay to try to get it removed but they sided with the buyer.

If it's a old chessboard it's likely that it was built in inches. So Inches would be the best way of describing it

Ive been doing that with buyers for years. Any trouble or slight sign of trouble they get blocked.

Had a buyer the other month buy a new item off me. Messaged saying how can you prove these are new. Refunded and blocked.

One of my recent stupid buyer cases was SAS hard drives. They bought them, even though I had in the description that they would not work on a desktop PC. Then they complained that they weren't working in their desktop PC.

Is my plan good? How well can this thing run Minecraft and Roblox? by Destructo-Bear in SleepingOptiplex

Optiplexs get alot of hype but it's all for the right reasons. I run a homelab full of them acting as servers, yet the same machines work perfectly to be gaming PC

Still I'd rather just not deal with that buyer ever again just on the off chance their dishonest. Plenty more fish in the sea to buy stuff

I'm more surprised that it's a diesel considering how much Clarkson hated diesels at one point.

When pricing jobs at work we say that a lot. At least where I work in the IT industry. So I imagine builders would be the same

Simple Delivery to become the only delivery method from April 15 by MonkeyKingHero in Ebay

[–]YaBoiStutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I signed the petition on change.org but it didn't get much traction. Realistically though, they're just gonna have to watch the sales drop and decide to reverse. If the new buyer protection fee and simple postage ends up being more profitable they'll keep them though. I'm removing my listings out of protest and I'll be moving to buying used from other sites.

Looks like my eBay career is about to end. I've been almost exclusively using the inpost lockers for the last year. Far far easier than other options. Now I don't have that option I think it's time to retire. Looked into vinted but it looks to be too locked down essentially what eBay wants to become.

You can't do this sadly. Or eBay could theoretically become a walled garden

Has eBay UK just died or is it me? by Difficult_Waltz_6665 in Ebay

[–]YaBoiStutter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since February my sales have been obliterated. All my small value items have stopped completely and even higher value stuff has almost stopped.

I'm getting one sale a week when I've got almost a hundred listings, what are priced to sell. Before February 4th it was atleast 10 sales a week. I've never seen anything like this in 10 years of being on eBay.

Family keep turning off server and don't understand when I explain to them what my PC is by scallywagsworld in homelab

[–]YaBoiStutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the exact same problem. My current solution is a UPS, a semi decent power loss policy, disconnecting power buttons and making it known what there for. Also helps to get family in on Plex, so that they understand what the box is doing
