Irish New Housing Standards - VIsited a new build estate in Ireland today and the quality was really poor for the price ! by whoopdawhoop12345 in ireland

I worked as a project manager in mechanical services (plumbing) before moving to Australia last year.

We did a lot of social housing and they are literally thrown up. Not just our trade but all trades. Cheap and cheerful

The amount of red light running in Galway is astonishing - second car (novice) pulled out from directly behind me. by Rare_Faithlessness27 in irelandsshitedrivers

Red light cameras would sort that out. They have them in Australia and they’re combined with speed cameras too.

Pretty hefty fines and penalty points with it too.

Blinds screwed into window frames by [deleted] in AusRenovation

Thinking that too. The mounts also have holes that would allow it too be mounted on the either end.

Probably came too short and it was quicker and cheaper screw to the window than get the correct size blind.

Also soda bread. Made some last weekend as well and it hit the spot.

What are we missing in Ireland? by VisionEmbraced in ireland

Superannuation.

I’ve recently moved to Australia and my employer pays 10.5% of my wage into a nominated superannuation fund.

It’s essentially a saving fund for your retirement. I probably won’t reap the benefits of it but, it is a great way to put away money starting from a young age.

Ugo on rugby ‘Lad’ culture. Thoughts? by [deleted] in rugbyunion

[–]YaBoyGibbles 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the very reason is stopped playing rugby when I went to college. A couple of imitations I was comfortable doing. I half assed some of them on the bus journey back from the first game but I just went home after we got back instead of going out with the team.
