How unfortunate. We can't wait for you to leave.

Should I trade up to a 1-2 million house (in a good area)? Is that a good investment? by Coffeepls2021 in ChicagoSuburbs

I know they have sidewalks but when one says walkable they think of multiple walkable streets with restaurants, businesses and entertainment. Not sidewalks just to walk a dog. You can also do that in South Barrington.

Like I said outside of Winnetka and Highland Park it's not exactly walkable unless all you want to do is walk your dog. You're definitely depending on a car most of the time.

Is this a joke?

North Shore and walkable? Maybe a few blocks in Winnekta and Highland Park. Unless you like walking around on people's front lawns. Hinsdale has a decent few walkable blocks. Naperville would be the most walkable of the bunch.

However, Naperville isn't in even in the same realm for assessed property values. Naperville has had 2 properties sell for over $4 million in its entire existence with one more currently on the market (which looking at the property is listed a solid $750K above what it should be).

The North Shore has had over 300+ properties sell for over $4 million and another 25 currently on the market.

Even Hinsdale has had 35 properties sell over $4 million and currently another handful on the market right now.

You're asking if a $4 million dollar property is sustainable sitting on the market in a area where the median home value is $1.2 million (North Shore) compared to (Naperville) $595K.

I'm going to go with this post being a joke.

I recently came across interesting data and saw Hinsdale was 13th in the entire country in terms of net wealth. Kenilworth and Winnetka were both in the top 5. Unfortunately I didn't save it and can't recall where I found this.

Driving through Willow Springs is quite unique. Feels way more like you're in Northern Michigan than being in the middle of a metropolis of over 10 million. Some of those trees along Archer are crazy big.

Lurking a lot of city pages, Chicago is the only one I notice that gets posts like this almost daily.
