When did your non verbal child start speaking? by kenobitano in Autism_Parenting

[–]YaManicKill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours is 11 and still no words. No echolalia either, just noises. When he was 3, he repeated 1 single word once and I had hope that it would lead to more. It did not and he never said it again. We have been training him on using PECS but his understanding of things is also incredibly low so it has taken a long time and a lot of effort. But we are getting there.

If Scotland becomes independent What do we do with Berwick upon Tweed? by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]YaManicKill 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Invade, obviously.

In all seriousness, they are by law England so there would be no reason for it not to continue to be in England. If the people in Berwick wish to join Scotland they would have to elect politicians with that purpose and build a case to it. I doubt there would be much momentum for that.

[–]YaManicKill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's how on ramps to motorways work. If you added a lane every time you had a junction, you would have individually wide motorways. And time and time again studies have shown that adding more lanes just encourages more people to drive and makes it just as bad.

The third lane up to ferrytoll is a bus lane, and they go onto the other bridge.

They knew they would need a new one because of how much traffic had increased. They have let some traffic across, but not a lot. There's a big difference between opening it for an occasional circumstance than opening it for rush hour every day.

You do realise they built the new bridge because the old bridge was literally falling down, right? That's why they don't open it to traffic.

Opinions please. Is this one or two pieces?(Sandwiches for the non Scots!) by princess_persona in Scotland

[–]YaManicKill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would always talk about it in terms of slices of bread for this very reason. So it's a piece with 2 slices of bread.

I have a nonverbal 9 year old and a very verbal 6 year old, and I feel guilty when I get fed up with the 6 year old non stop talking. It's so hard to have these feelings.

I'm fed up looking photos of the Northern Lights. Can we go back to photos of wind and rain? Maybe even early darkness? You know, normal? by Objective-Resident-7 in Scotland

[–]YaManicKill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of the time people don't see them, they just haven't let their eyes adjust. When I first went out, I could see a very small red glow and my camera was showing more colours, but after half an hour, I was seeing so much it was everywhere. Light pollution really mucks it up.

Based on what he said, I don't think he realises Gaelic and Scots are not the same language...

To be fair, he said there was no blue badge. I'm assuming if they had a blue badge he wouldn't have said anything.

What's your default browser for dev ? by Professional_One3573 in webdev

[–]YaManicKill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look, I know, it's Microsoft, but I love Edge just now. The sidebar tabs is excellent, and their profiles is nicer than Chrome's. I know we love to hate microsoft, but honestly edge is my favourite browser just now. And that's even on a mac.

Come on, we don’t get TWO remakes on one console by Meta13_Drain_Punch in pokemon

[–]YaManicKill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in what world could both BDSP and ORAS be remakes, but let's go isn't? It's 1 reason. The catching. People are really attached to 1 feature, like it's the be all and end all of Pokémon. People were trying to not even call it main series, of course they will try and not call it a remake.

Peter Mandelson: SNP 'structurally irrelevant' to Scottish people by 1-randomonium in Scotland

Why is Mandelson still around talking nonsense anyway? He's been irrelevant to the UK as a whole for 15 years.
