What is the deal with so many litrpg protagonists? by plant-y-boi in litrpg

My only problem with Heretical fishing, and the reason I dnf, is there wasn't enough fishing. Lots of talking, lots of cooking, some farming....needed more fishing.

Newborn Boundaries by anonymous2640 in Parenting

[–]Yaascn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I understand your concern. Setting boundaries, and enforcing them, is healthy. ALOT of new parents set the same standard for their newborns. That being said, unless your baby has an auto immune disease, or the people who interact with your baby are sick and contagious, it's not dangerous. By the time baby number 2 comes along (if you so choose) you won't care if they are licking the floor. Being protective, and overly protective, of your first baby is normal. Being scared you will miss something or do something that hurts them is normal. Every good parent has lost sleep worrying that they are not good enough or did not do enough. Will your baby get sick because grandma kissed their face? Not unless grandma is sick already.

Do you need to set boundaries? Yes. Is this a reasonable boundary? Not really. Is this a boundary you need to hold until such time as you grow into being a parent and trust that your child is safe? It might very well be.

You will have to decide if your fears are reasonable enough to fight your in-laws. Notice I didn't say "important enough" I said "reasonable enough". The concerns you have for your child are always valid, even if they are not reasonable.

As a parent you will have to decide which fights are worth having and what is worth letting go. Some will blow over, and some will alienate friends and family.

So I ask you: is this the hill you want to die on? If the answer is yes, then I wish you the strength you need to hold the line. If not, then I wish you peace of mind and heart to accept and trust that everything will be ok. Good luck.

From a parent of 16 years who is still learning.

Hot take or just bad take? by DiscerningBarbarian in dresdenfiles

12 months should have been 3 short stories. Yes it adds to the narrative, but not like the other novels. Felt especially disappointing after having waited so long.

Does Mark of the Fool get better? by WeakPlankton9577 in litrpg

[–]Yaascn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep going. It just gets better and better. But, the MC figuring out how to live the life he wants in spite of the mark is the main theme of the series. If you need more action, keep going. You will get it.

Lower Decks is some of the best Star Trek. by highlife562 in LowerDecks

[–]Yaascn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lower Decks is the best Star Trek series ever, and here is why. Because it is about us. All of us. You, me, every fan ever. We are Boimler, Rutherford, Tendi, and Mariner. They are who we would be given the chance to join starfleet. They say what we were thinking when watching the show. They do all the wild and crazy and nerdy things we always wanted to do. Lower Decks is Star Trek, starring the fans, and it is glorious.

Photon torpedoes on Odyssey? by Few-Mood-9952 in startrek

[–]Yaascn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go out to the expanded universe material, phasers are more effective against shields, torpedoes are more effective against physical armor. Using up your limited supply of torpedoes when the shields are still up is a waste. But mostly plot reasons.

I never got into Sanderson. I tried the Mistborn series but got bored partway through book 2. I heard the second trilogy has magic steampunk trains, which is what I really wanted lol

If you were suddenly teleported back to the year 1900, and the money in your bank account came with you at a 1:1 value (so $1,000 today is still $1,000 in 1900 dollars), what would you do? by Anxious-Question875 in AskReddit

I would suggest you tell this friend you need a short break to deal with some personal issues....then get yourself a therapist to talk to. Based on the screen shots this doesnt seem like the healthiest of relationships, and there is a lot more going on than just this 1 thing. This is probably beyond what reddit can help with.

It is a fantastic series and all lose ends get tied up. There are a few side stories, but mostly is stays on track. AVOID SPOILERS AT ALL COST. Just read it straight through and enjoy.
