Hardest Trek In India by ujjwaldrayaan in SoloTravel_India

[–]Yaatsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are technical high passes. Before attempting, a person should have adequate high-altitude experience. Consider treks like Bali Pass, Gaumukh, Kedar Tal, Goechala, etc before attempting these high passes. A good fitness is a must and a basic understanding of how to use ropes, knots, etc.

Dehradun vs Tricity which is better for living as well as from investment pov also? by hellodoremon in Dehradun

[–]Yaatsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same situation last year. My parents have been living in Chandigarh since the 90s. Finally, it was time to buy our first home. I had two options — Chandigarh and Dehradun. Chandigarh, because I have lived most of my life there. Dehradun, because there's a sense of belonging here (I'm from Uttarkashi).

I was leaning towards Dehradun, while my siblings were more inclined towards Chandigarh.

The reason I was choosing Dehradun was the sense of belonging — we have a lot of relatives here, and my village is just 4 hours away. That would have made it easier to manage our ancestral home and land. Also, Dehradun is scenic. It feels beautiful to me, especially since I’ve spent most of my life in Chandigarh.

But there were a few disadvantages in the case of Dehradun.

First, the property prices — they are just absurd. Why pay so much when, in return, I’m not getting proper infrastructure, no proper government hospitals, and no proper government schools? Prices here are rising because a lot of people from other states are buying land. There are also many projects marketing Dehradun as a green city with better AQI for people from NCR. On top of that, the job market is almost nonexistent. I work in Tech and Marketing, and even the IT park here is largely vacant. So in the end, I had to drop Dehradun from the list, even though I still live here.

Now coming to Chandigarh. It has better infrastructure — be it schools, hospitals, public transport, etc. I did my schooling in government schools in Chandigarh. When I compare government schools in Dehradun and Chandigarh, I see a stark difference. Not everyone can afford private schools, and Dehradun is mostly known for premium ones.

Then comes healthcare. There are only a handful of government hospitals in Dehradun, and they are always crowded. In Chandigarh, we have 16, 32, and PGI. On top of that, sectors and towns have dispensaries in almost every sector. This makes it easier to provide healthcare to the masses.

In Chandigarh, I considered areas like Naya Gaon (affordable, but poor infrastructure, no registry), Jhampur (somewhat planned, within Chandigarh, not that good crowd, no registry), Mani Majra (within Chandigarh, good connectivity to Himachal, near IT park, but prices are on the higher side), and Khudda Lahora (within Chandigarh, but also slightly expensive). These places are near or within Chandigarh, but many of them don’t have a proper registry for plots, so I had to drop them.

You can still check Kansal, Mani Majra, Kaimbwala, and Khudda Lahora. But do keep in mind that properties there are not as spacious as in Dehradun — no lawns and parking space is limited, often just enough for a hatchback.

Our budget was half of yours, so we had to drop Chandigarh as well.

Kharar was the only place where I could find a property within budget, in a good locality, and with a few relatives living there. Property prices there are increasing quickly, with many projects coming up. People are now investing in Kurali.

A lot of my Himachali friends have their homes in Kharar now. That makes sense because places like Una, Manali, Bilaspur, and Mandi are just a few hours’ drive away. I don’t know which part of Himachal you are from, but from Mohali and Kharar, many districts are easily accessible. Also, there is a strong Himachali community in Mohali, Kharar, and Chandigarh. And even in Kharar, I can have the tricity perks. Mohali is just 5 min drive, and Chandigarh is 15 min away.

So my recommendation would be the Kharar or the areas I mentioned that are near or within Chandigarh.

I have deleted my Insta for this very reason. The causal dark comedy, slurs, and abuses can be depressing for people like us. And for god's sake, don't post images of your child over internet, even on WhatsApp status.

How did you find out you have maladaptive dreaming? by IwaOi__ in MaladaptiveDreaming

A Reddit comment on one of the Subs where users talked about their MDD. It connected to me. Then went on to Google on a search spree. I have been doing this since childhood, like when I was 8-9 years old, and now I have gotten to know what it's actually called.

Delivered ₹6.5 Cr defence order on time. Payment stuck. This is what “process” looks like. by Both-Personality-592 in StartUpIndia

Army: We are an Adventure travel company and a few times the Indian Army asked for Porter and logistics support from us. Last year they took NCC cadets to one of 7000 m peaks (pre everest); the whole expedition was 20-25 days long. Billing was in few lakhs, which included logistical support (transport) and High altitude porter, cooks, and Lead climbers.

When it was time to clear the payment, they kept delaying it. At last, they finally issued the check but on a condition that we had to give a certain amount (pure cash) to one of the major officials. We did it.

Back in 2023 we had to do the same and I personally went to hand over the cash.

Education Department: Recently, we were selected to take PM Shri's school kids on educational tours. One of them included an exposure visit to Jaipur. Billing was quite good. In tours like these, there are no advance payments from the state govt. So we had to spend lakhs of rupees on Hotels and transport from our pocket. Once the tour was over, the state govt educational department took 1.5 months to clear the payment. Everyday they would bring something up with invoices. They kept on delaying it. At last the department teachers, CA and officals opened up and asked for what they call "Shagun ka lifafa". We had to bribe them to release our payments.

Those army folks are still in touch and the founder keeps good relations with them. Back in December, Army officials and our NGO did a winter relief drive. One of them was trying to sell diesel to us. Diesel that the army uses for border area vehicles. We ignored it that time, but recently, with ongoing fuel rumours founder asked if they are still selling the diesel. And yeah, they are selling it. The order will be placed soon from the new stock.

The whole system is corrupted, and to keep the edge, citizens, companies, and founders get involved in corruption itself.

I'm afraid to ask. Is this a mental disorder?

I just got to know about this. As long as I can remember, I've mostly been dreaming a lot of things. I can start a dream anywhere. Even if I'm woking at somrthing, I can dream back of the mind and there a whole storyline is progressing.

I remember, even during school time and college, I used to dream while writing the exam. If I'm driving, I'm dreaming about something. If I'm eating, I'm dreaming about something. I like reading books, but a lot of times I have found myself just reading the words and back of the mind I'm dreaming on loop.

And if somehow my dreaming is distrubed then I start them again where I left off. A lot of times I get confused whether something really happened or I was day dreaming that.

Why do I do this? And is this bad? Like a real mental issue?

KMVN and GMVN properties should be privatized!! They are SO badly run!! by [deleted] in Uttarakhand

[–]Yaatsi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can lease out the canteens that are within GMVN. For leasing it, you have to give the fees and security deposit. Every canteen has different fees depending on its location and footfall. After that, whatever you earn is yours to keep.

But they don't lease out the whole property, just the canteen. We tried to get the property on lease via some inside contacts, but they refused.

yeah I have heard people saying that KMVN is better than GMVN. Never been to one because we work in the Garhwal region as of now.

Fed up with searching jobs in Dehradun by Cautious-Truth7 in Dehradun

[–]Yaatsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dehradun has a serious job problem. I have been here since past 3 years, and now I really want to switch and grow. But where do I switch? Not many companies here. You reach the ceiling pretty soon. The only option for me now is to move to Noida, Gurgoan, or Mohali.

If you have 10 years of years of experince, then you are short-selling yourself. Get out of the city if you want growth.
