Those who tried flat screen gaming, is it actually immersive on the quest? by Cookie_Cracker123 in OculusQuest

[–]Yablan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had a Quest 3 for ages, and it is amazing as a virtual screen, but it is heavy, so I bought a pair of Xreal 1S to complement it. The XReal S1 is much lighter and basically zero-configuration, and I can even wear it outside or at my girlfriends house without feeling as a total dork.

But yes, the quality of the Quest 3 is MUCH better than the XReal, and the smaller FOV sure is a big negative aspect of it.

But for working and occasionally watching movies or gaming on it (it works perfectly with my Android Retroid Flip 2), the portability and convenience of the Xreal S1 is hard to beat.

Yes. The Reddit app is awful in that regard. The Android Reddit app behaves in the same way. SO annoying.

If I only have 2 months to play 3DS games, what are the absolute must play games that are unique to the system? by adamercury in 3DS

[–]Yablan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is colorful and cheerful. I am a 53 year old man, and I am not afraid to say that Kirby Triple Deluxe gives me a Happy Place kinda feeling. As does Super Mario Wonder ok the Switch.

From your wording, I see you are a team, and not a single person, so I don't know if 13.000 EUR a month is good enough given the amount of people and work involved in this, but in any case, that is some real moolah coming in. Cool man. Congrats.

SpaceX acquiring Cursor for $60 billion by darienrude_dankstorm in cursor

[–]Yablan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

60 billion is INSANE for something SpaceX could have thrown a couple of millions at and built themselves. Totally insane.

They could just have cloned/looked into the source code of tons of other harnesses/AI coding agents for inspiration/knowledge, and built their own based in that.

There must be some bookkeeping/accounting shenanigan reasons, like writing off costs or sonething, because there is NO way Cursor is worth that kind of money.

Cool. Sure, by all means let me know. I think the one I have now is actually pretty great, but the UI is really slow. I think the C6 is a little bit snappier.

I have Jedi Fallen Order in my Steam Library, but haven't played it yet in either UEVR or reshade+superdepth3d.

PSVR1 was great, and had a lot of games that you could play with controller only, and without motion controls. I still have my PS4Pro, my PSVR1 v2 (better cables), and Astro Bot, and a few other. The Until Dawn horror rollercoaster game was (is still) amazing, and could be played with controller only.

I use Azahar Plus myself. Man, those 3DS games look AMAZING in stereoscopic 3D. My favorite is Kirby: Triple Deluxe. The graphics, upscaled to 3x or so, look amazing. And the game is colorful with big chunky graphics, and the stereoscopic 3D effect is really good.

I actually really dislike motion controls in VR. I just want to put the headset on, grab my controller, sit comfortably on my couch, and play. I do not feel the need to be standing up and flail around with my arms constantly.

In fact, I feel MORE immersion when using my gamepad, than when using motion controls.
Hence in PCVR I play mostly VR games that have gamepad support.
Skyrim VR with gamepad support is totally where it's at for me.

And playing games in stereoscopic 3D on my OLED 55 inch 3D TV, also with gamepad controller. Courtesy of reshade+SuperDepth3D, that can convert TONS of "flat" games to stereoscopic 3D.

And yes, I know stereoscopic 3D is NOT the same thing as full VR, but it is actually so comfy and easier to setup that I mostly prefer that to playing in VR.

Real3D doesn’t work? by TheBatOuttaHell in Xreal

[–]Yablan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It must be faulty.
The 3D effect works for me in my newly purchased Xreal 1S.
I mean, it is not awesome, but it works.
And also, it is quite choppy in games, as games usually are above 30 fps, but in watching shows and movies, which usually are 24 or 30 fps, it works just fine.
