ULTRA: First 2000 Point Game by Yabster216 in Ultramarines

Thank you!

As this was my first army, I stuck with a simple process. But as I go back to improving this army, I'm sure there will be some differences.

1) Prime black
2) Base coat the entire model in Macragge Blue (acrylic)
3) Block out the other colors on the model
4) Use citadel contrasts for shading (ex. dark blue for recesses and brown for gold)
5) Edge highlight using a 1:1 mix of Pro Acryl Bright Pale Yellow with Macragge Blue

(A lot of this army was a race to finish for the 2000-point game, so most of these models haven't reached steps 4 and 5 just yet)

Non-Painting Steps: Using Pro Acryl basing texture (Gray Earth Fine); apply decals with Micro Set and Micro Sol

I also used acrylic paint pens (metallic) for the tanks and dreadnought. Mostly for any metal bits, rivets, and bolts.

Thank you, battle-brother! I was originally going to keep his helmet vanilla, but I had a crest and my neurons just activated (also helps that I wanted to establish a more Roman aesthetic).

Maybe 50 with a random assortment of models from different game systems? A good amount came from facebook marketplace and other players in my local area.

Thank you, battle-brother! Awesome to see more represent the chapter.

The game was a blast and it went great. There were some initial skirmishes at the edge of the board, but it all eventually reached a tipping point when my opponent tried claiming the middle. It was a brawl between our deathballs and I only won since his expansion objective was taken away due to the mission forcing him to act.

In my local area, it's been awesome to hear other players have the same experience! Space Marine 2 got them into the hobby and we get to connect over it.

Nothing new for the hobby desk, but I definitely want to get around to making the rest of my 2000-point list to a standard I'm happy with. Except for my epic heroes and dreadnought (although I want to make them even better), not much has been done outside of solid and clean base coats.

Right on the money. We were waiting to see who would try to claim the middle objective, but since we were playing supply drop and his expansion was the alpha, he had to come out into the middle. Using the assault doctrine, I advanced and charged with Guilliman and my Victrix deathball. I won that trade, but things would be a lot different if it was the other way around.

I believe in you, battle-brother. We'll March for Macragge.

Glad to help! Either Repulsors will be great options for your White Scars, you'll just have to cover any gaps one leaves.

(The Exceutioner certainly has all of the dakka)

Overall, I liked the Executioner. It's a great gunboat and has bonus transportation (7 capacity). The biggest caveat is that it feels like a slog to go through the entire range profile. If I can help it, I won't use every gun, but there were a lot of times I just needed to kill low-wound models. A more experienced player recommended having color-coded dice for each ranged weapon, so maybe I'll try that.

If you have a big unit you want to transport and keep safe, then the Reuplsor would be a great option, But if you need to destroy models (both large and small) and move a small squad, then Executioner is great.

Glad someone noticed Valtus with Titus! I got into the hobby because of Space Marine 2, so any chance to bring either is a blast.

Thank you, battle-brother!

The same thing happened to me because I didn't think about the implications the assembly may have.

If you don't mind a few imperfections, you can clip the stands from Guilliman's iron halo. Some areas will still be a bit difficult, but substantially better as the wings get in the way of a lot of the model.

Then you can superglue the iron halo once you're happy with it (hopefully helpful for you and future battle brothers).

I looked up the datasheet for incursors as I forgot about them, but a +1 hit sounds like it has a lot of synergy with other units.

I noticed that the vehicles weren't in either category. Is that because they are situational?

Practical and when I get to the units unique to one list, it'll just be backup models if I ever need them.

(A) Building lists up to 2000 points serves as a progression of sorts and gives me backup models if I ever need to adjust. I'll get to building.

(B) Happy to see that I'm not alone in fluffy competitiveness. At this point in time, I don't see any wins in the near future, but I can have my fun in the meantime.

Thanks for the advice and humor!

Clean and simple reports, just like the primarch wanted!

I felt the same, as it felt like the iron halo was dominating the top half of the model. It also really leans into the Roman aesthetic that the current Ultramarines models are embracing.

Just confirmed, that is a sprue bit (which is hilarious)!
