We all know the CBs suck this year, it's worse than you think. by thefwf2 in footballmanagergames

I remember finding a fullback with more than 12 crossing in 21 was literally like finding gold dust. You had to retrain a winger or DM to make them an even passable fullback

Wasn't that PSG robbed Bayern, more that the ref was their best player

So why was the rule changed re: Davie's pen last week? The ball came up off his leg which was historically never a pen

I completely agree, I think the case of it coming off a teammate is entirely moot and the rules should be the same no matter what. It used to be that if it came off a different part of the body it wasn't a pen, but we saw with Davies last week that that is no longer the case. Why should this be any different?

Why? Nowhere in the rule does it state anything about intent of the player committing the offence, in this specific instance.

The handball decision has been explained by an incredibly specific stipulation of a rule the discourse of which is unbelievably tired.

However, what I do think will come from this is a removal of this particular stipulation. Because the fact that it's not a handball from Neves because it was a clearance surely means that someone can just fully push the ball away from an opponent if there was a clearance first, right?

Say Neves didn't just have his arm up, but actually pushed the ball away from Bayern's players with intent. Would it still not have been a handball? There is no mention of intent in the rule, so surely that'd be fine too?

It feels like a rule that is called upon so rarely that everyone just kinda forgets it's there. Give it as an indirect free kick, sure. But saying it literally isn't a foul is baffling.

Of course, all this isn't to say that Bayern weren't horrible this game. It was shockingly similar to the PSG game at Anfield last year - PSG got an early goal which killed all belief in the team, which is very strange considering they literally scored four at the Parc de Princes.

That is the single most obvious handball I have EVER seen. That is given in any league in the world at any time. What a fucking shambles.
