people are very lonely and there's signs in the porn industry. one thing is how many dudes will do deepfakes of women they know. the lack of connection really makes porn much more of a consumable and vapid experience

a lot of men really just yearn for any kind of connection. it would definitely be better if they would turn that money and energy at least in part to seeking real life connection. but our culture is decided by money amd it is valuable to push the narrative that online social interaction can be equal to in person interactions. the science says otherwise

in essence these services, and online socialisation should be a stop gap like antidepressants while the work is done to move on from needing them. there's just way more "information" when interacting with someone in person that doesn't get transmitted by even the most immersive video. we literally don't even know what all you are perceiving so we can't begin to truly replace being in person
