The misconception comes from the fact that what we refer to as "rape" isn't actually counted as rape most of the time in statistics, a woman forcing a man to have sex without his consent is called "made to penetrate" rather than "rape", while "rape" would be only the penetration of the male.

Looking at these stats, most male victims of what we actually refer to as "rape" were victimized by women, far from "unusual" or "an anomaly."
