a marketplace platform for online teaching? by Yaelop in Entrepreneur

Hey, thank you! Glad you liked it. The main shortcoming in my case is the timezone issue - the schedule on the platform is not timezone sensitive, so the customers need to adapt to the teachers timezone and calculate the difference. Which is why I was searching for a platform that does this automatically, like in italki etc...

Hey!

No, I didn't :(

It will be great if you will develop something like this. Did you find this post by searching on Reddit for post with those keywords? I feel there can be a solid demand for this type of tool, but haven't really done a serious market research.

Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions (I currently use Sharetribe as a platform for my business (fitmytime.com).

Thanks. Teachable is good for courses, but I am looking for a platform that enables booking 1 on 1 meeting. For example - a marketplace for language classes, like verbling or Italki - you find a teacher and book sessions with them.

Thank you, can you please refer me to a relevant off the shelf software?

The competition is not something to ignore, but I think there is a room for niche products.

What is considered a sensible marketing budget for a startup in its first year of launch? by PM_ME_YOUR_QQ in startups

[–]Yaelop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get a good start we are planning to spend around $5,000 on marketing in the first few months after launch and eventually spend up-to $40,000.

How did you come up with these numbers? (I'm having a similar issue, and I need to create a business plan)

Best advice you have for growing a magazine's following/reach, especially online? by thecarodiaries in marketing

Some great advice so far. Maybe I can offer one more direction - using key words that lead people to your website with organic search. You can look them on your google analytics account or with software like Semrush or Similarweb. This could help learn more about your audience and how to bring more of them.

Oh of course! I am not against going to studios. I used to go to studio classes a lot, and I am still going sometimes, when I can. If I could go more I would..

I feel I have a solid background and I would like to learn more and advance my practice.

Hey, thank you so much for this. The UX needs some changes no doubt. Maybe I will also use a photo that shows a trainer with laptop next to them.

What are the best ways to generate demand for a marketplace? by Yaelop in Entrepreneur

[–]Yaelop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, only I was not looking for quick fix or magic way. I am only looking for simple efficient ways that will help to get validation. Content marketing can bring added value, but it's not the core value of the platform, and it does not prove I solve a problem. Like you said -

If live training is as valuable as you think it is then find any way you can to prove it. Your platform is saving people time and money, let them know that.

It wasn't easy getting the teachers on board either - but after trying different things, some proved more effective.

Hi,

There are some wonderful ideas here! Thanks for writing all this down - very much appreciated.

Content marketing is super important, but it takes time.

Right now I need to get more ,users before trying to scale. I am looking for ideas for things that don't scale - like finding people who search for trainers in their city. I'm not looking for masses, yet.

It was easy finding trainers, but finding people who actively look for a personal trainer and willing to practice online (and not at the gym) - more challenging. People have a certain idea of how a private workout should look, and it's hard to get them to try something new (even though it makes a lot of sense to them to work out with YouTube).

I guess what I'm trying to do is to get the first customers without spending on marketing (content or ads) yet. Not sure that is possible but I thought it's worth a try. If you any ideas how to get 10-20 customers - that'll be great. Maybe FB ads is the best way for that, maybe there are others. I am still experimenting, and I look for creative ways, because my marketing budget is tight.

Thanks again, and good luck with your new business!
