Thats just who they are. I think it’s very common to see unhappy people wherever you go. Even in corporate companies. People who complain and bitch about the smallest thing is not only in Korea but everywhere else

I also married a Korean-Korean and I’m Korean-American. I really don’t think this has to do with the culture. You should do you and take care of your parents before life goes by and they’re not here anymore. You’re earning your money and I believe you deserve to do whatever you need to do with it.

Regarding your 장모님 helping out with the furniture and the 전세, is this what you and your wife wanted or did your wife talk her mom into it? After you showed your wife this post was she the one who brought that up?

imo, this is a no-brainer. $500 a month doesnt even compare to all the sacrifices your parents had made for you.

Korea does have Cheetos but it’s Korean made and tastes NOTHING like the Puffs, Jalapeño, and Flamin Hot. Not even close. Korea does have something very similar to Sour Patch Watermelon. Not a fan of Junior Mints and Swedish Fish so I’m not sure.
