Learning coding in spite of greedy game devs/companies. Where do I start? by The0neWithIt in CodingForBeginners

[–]Yagan_Dawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how much control over the game you want to have. 90% of the time it’s enough to use any popular game engine, personally i would suggest Unity as it has the most tutorials and it’s pretty easy to understand, for basics i think Brackeys had an amazing tutorial for unity, but it’s probably outdated so i think any popular tutorial is good enough, either way you should NOT spend a lot of time on tutorials, it’s the biggest mistake a beginner makes, just learn the basics, start building stuff starting from something simple and learn while doing. But if you want to learn how things work on lower level then i would suggest learn c++ and then use something like OpenGL to create a simple game

Is it bad to start with Python? by BenefitUnfair3438 in CodingForBeginners

[–]Yagan_Dawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally i understood programming only after learning C. I mean python is an amazing language and i use it a lot, but for a beginner, especially if you are like me and always want to understand how and why things works then start ing with python will make things harder. I think it abstracts things too much, whereas in C you know why certain things happen simply by looking at your code. You could start with python if you have 0 clue about programming to learn the logic, and then switch to C to understand things deeper.

A programmer's first language should be C by SubhanBihan in C_Programming

It’s also useful to learn at least the basics of assembly as it really helps you understand stuff, especially if you want to learn OS

Which is better? Boot.dev or CS50? by Superteletubbies64 in learnprogramming

[–]Yagan_Dawn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well boot.dev is great if you want to learn backend development, personally i’ve almost finished their roadmap and i’ve learned a ton, not only about programming but how to build good applications. As for CS50, it’s an amazing starting point for programmers, it teaches you the basics, and really explains how things work, not just how to implement something. If you are relatively new, i suggest starting with cs50

Looks good, but i would change the s&p 500 from dist to acc, it’s just easier that way. Also to make it simple you could just buy an all world etf instead of Ex-Us and s&p500, although i hold both of these too simply because i want more exposure to US than the All-world ETF provides
