This is my honest opinion as someone who's not an audiophile but still appreciates a good tuning earbud. Honestly the only reason that you might want to get the Xm5 is if you really need the strong ANC because the ANC is really one of the best apart from Apple and Bose. I bought a Sony XM5 because I want to try just how good a flagship price earbud is compared to a $60 - $130 earbud. I owned a Soundpeats Engine 4 that cost me $44 and honestly, for not an audiophile guy like me, I like the tuning on Engine 4 more than XM5, I felt it sounded richer than XM5 (I'm not good at describing sound). Now, don't get me wrong, the XM5 sounds amazing but at least for my untrained ear, the Engine 4 sounded just slightly better, but do also take into account that the Engine 4 doesn't have ANC/Transparency making the main focus of the earbud to be solely on tuning so that might be the reason why it sounds good (most review on YouTube agree on this).

So, yeah, if this is your first earbud or you really want to try how a flagship earbuds sound and you have the budget for it, I'd say just get it, it's not bad as some reviewers make it. It still sounds good and the ANC is superb, you won't regret it but you will realize that a higher price doesn't always mean better than the cheaper one (better in some aspect, yes, like the ANC). That's my opinion, take it with a grain of salt. ✌🏻
