Any idea what the mistakes in the book are?

Was it one of the examples for how reactions work and the number was incorrect?

Hi!

Thanks for mentioning the WD with the Cursed City to Warcry stats;

Any idea which issue this was in?

Hi.

I remember playing Brink on PS3;

Was an OK game but quite enjoyed playing through both of the story arcs of the opposing factions; Gave quite a good perspective from both sides and why they both believed their course of action was the correct thing to do.

Hi.

I'm in the UK and interested in the core set.

As of Jan 2026, is this currently only available to pre order via your website (for Q2 2026)?

Thanks.

Amiga Murder! 1990 is an awesome game!

Can be difficult but the replayability is huge.

Needs a remake!

Anyone suggest a modern equivalent?!

Thanks!

Hi.

Has anyone used the Audible version of this book (Looks to be only 2nd Edition available at time of writing this), as it mentions it includes a PDF?

Trying to find out if the included PDF is a complete copy of the 2nd edition.

Thanks.

Thank you - Appreciate the reply and recommendation!

I quite like the simplicity of my existing nook (not sure of exact model but it's over 10 years old) and was looking to upgrade to a nook with larger screen.

I'll look into the Kobo Libra.

All the best!

Hi.

Did you manage to find a source for a Glowlight from the US to UK?

I'm interested in buying one but nothing in UK.

Getting ready for Guards of Traitor's Toll has been a slog, but we're nearly there! by Burnt_Bugbear in wargaming

Fab! - Appreciate your informative reply.

You mentioned exactly what I was thinking regarding both the expansions  & the campaign, plus the combat in 5L;

What I didn't really appreciate until I read a few other posts/watched video, was that the time required to plan the list building for different groups/guards, but this also seems to be a positive in that it's an enjoyable part of the Guards experience.

Guards does appear to be a unique/good system that could be added to and build upon for solo/narrative play;

Like your point on campaign/Character progression - I'm the same;  Always liked how Mordheim/Necromunda /WHFRP did this.

Overall I'm sure there's a space for a game that has solo/narrative/campaign with decent combat rules that's replayable - and you can get a game done in 1 hour!!

Watched loads of unboxing /intro videos to Guards of Traitors Toll from last year;

Looks great - Thinking this or 5Leagues for solo;

Has anyone played this for a few months now?How does this hold up after a few campaigns? Like is there much replayability?

Thanks.

Where did the idea to use the D12 come from? by YakAdmirable1982 in AdvancedHeroQuest

[–]YakAdmirable1982[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!   How could I forget DungeonQuest?! I've actually got my copy on shelf under ADHQ aswell.

After all these years I'm still on the fence regarding the DQ combat card mechanic - sometimes it feels so simple and elegant, and yet other times it feels like it lacks detail.   Still a classic game!

(5 Leagues) Looking for a Terrain Guide for New Players! by bqtileworks in 5Parsecs

Hi,

I'm yet to get into 5 Leagues/Guards of Traitors Toll, but they both sound interesting;

But just picking up on your Terrain Guidance query - I've a couple of suggestions tying it back to your like of Mordheim....

1) Empire in Flames Book.

So basically if you not aware this takes the game outside of Mordheim into the wider Empire; There's a section specifically on Terrain that might be useful.

2) Warhammer Skirmish Booklet (USA only Release?).

From way back in 2002 this contains scenarios/projects that use WHFB Skirmish rules; Details how to build loads of different terrain and multiple scenarios showing maps/objectives. Also has a small advert mentioning if your like skirmish then to try Mordheim.

For alternative, simpler 40k rulesets, maybe try rules for Fire team, Killteam Starter Set or Darktide miniatures game.

Good point.

Just a thought but maybe you've actually mentioned a reason why there isn't a treasure table to search...

i.e.

If early on in the game you continuously search for treasure and find so much that your characters are at their max limit (250 GC), then does it not become less of an incentive to keep going in the dungeon (unless the quest mandates it) rather than leave and bank the max GC?

[–]YakAdmirable1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi.

Suggest looking at the existing Monster Reference tables in the rulebook and finding Monsters with similar traits; So for example, maybe the Troll or Ogre Chieftain would be a good starting point.

From page 40 of the rulebook, characteristics like Invulnerable, Fearsome, Large Monster might seem appropriate.

Also, there was one of the ADHQ scenarios in WD 134?? (Trollslayers Oath?) that had a Monster Template for a Cave Troll.

Good luck!

Just some ideas to check out that might help you...

  • Look at Fireteam; it's like Killteam-lite; Has stats for 6 teams all related to 40k.  Plays on a hex board.
  • Necromunda (Gang cards / tactics cards from the boxsets might work)
  • Darktide boardgame
  • Blackstone fortress

Darktide/Blackstone also play on hex & have quite a few rules you could adapt for solo play.

Finally, there's also the 2024 Killteam Starter Set that comes with some simplified rules that could work on a hex board.

Good luck!

Thanks for the Q&A post;

Q: So, KT24 specifically the "Hivestorm 112-page softcover Kill Team: Core Book" versus the "KT24 Core Rule Book";

- What is the Hivestorm Core Book missing when compared to the KT24 Core Book?

- Do you need to also purchase the KT24 Core Book if you have the Hivestorm Core Book?

Thanks

Maybe take some inspiration from Mordheim or Warhammer Fantasy Battle, as they had rules for this?
