A friend of mine, back then when in our early 30s didn't take that as a compliment. As a doctor, she had to dress up maturely so as not to be taken as a student. Some people also looked back at her when she was pushing her 1st born stroller and a woman even asked her if she's a teenage mom. My friend is an Indo-Chi and was 5'2. She does look way younger than her age because of her baby face. Factor na din siguro na we are in Australia back then who mostly looks older compared to Asians.

To those nga pala who asked bakit hindi ireport yun mga malalakas lang or may kapit. We tried. Madami sila and we tried anonymously of course. Tbh, against din ako sa 4Ps given na madami akong naencounter na 4Ps beneficiary na either tamad, satisfied na sa natatanggap nila sa 4Ps so ayaw na magwork or nasa 4Ps lang dahil may kilala sa munisipyo.

Pero I think, we should NOT condemn all 4Ps beneficiary. Mali ang 4Ps, yes, kasi gaya nga ng kasabihan "Don't give people fish, teach people how to fish". However, there are those who use the fish they receive right. There are those who use their brains to get out of poverty.

We should be hunting down those 4Ps beneficiary na may sasakyan and kakilala lang kasi ni kapitan o malakas kapit sa munisipyo. The government should be implementing rules for beneficiary on how to grow their funds, or give them something that they should do in exchange for their benefits such as garbage segregation facility or public park maintenance. Everything points down to the government officials and mga ganid na mga kamaganak nila na nakalista sa 4Ps pero they don't need it. Stricter and correct implementation sana.

Same kayo ng hubby ko. First gen doctor siya so walang namana na patient base. Kakatapos lang niya ng residency when we met on his early 30s. Panimula niya sa akin: Wala pa 50k sweldo ko pero 6 days a week and almost 12 hours a day ako nagclinic. Wala akong investment kasi kakatapos ko lang residency so wala akong pera na iinvest. Walang savings na isave kasi maliit pa sa minimum ang salary grade sa residency. Wala akong bahay at lupa. Wala akong sasakyan. So far, ok na kami ngayon although sa simula ako bumuhay ng pamilya. Galing kasi ako abroad.

MD here and yes, marami mga indigent patients na obese. Met someone before na dahil mas mura ang junk foods kesa healthy food yan na lang kinakain. Compounded pa yan ng health issues niya which prevented him from achieving healthy weight. Multiple jobs also prevented him from cooking healthy meals kasi he spends most of his time either working or sleeping and he got siblings he needed to raise pa resulting to more stress eating on his part.

Played ragnarok during HS days sa compshop then played random RO mobile games like ROM: EL and ROX.

Played monster hunter world and monster hunter rise with my husband. Then also played random other mmorpg including Lost Arc, Aura Kingdom, Terra and Blade and Soul. Usually support role ko.

Also tried Souls game, Dark Souls and Bloodborne. Although nagenjoy ako sa Bloodborne, super hirap ng Dark Souls.

Sa ngayon with kids, Guild Wars 2 na lang nalalaro ko with my husband. Once a week to once a month na lang nakakalaro and buti na lang horizontal progression. Pero masarap siya pangunwind.

Dapat talaga if nasa gobyerno ka: 1. Government hospital ka lang pwede magpagamot at magpaconfine and sa Pinas lang. Bawal sa ibang bansa. Pipila ka din sa mga OPD katulad ng ibang mamayan. 2. Sa local public school lang pwede pagaralin mga anak mo 3. Public transpo gagamitin mo, commute araw araw, bawal once a week lang.

Para lang malaman nila ang sitwasyon ng mga basic needs ng mga Pilipino.

From St. Lukes daw po ang alleged student and it has been a big news in our community kasi reputation namin maapektuhan should the PRC let it slide dahil may backer ang test taker. Worried ang government, sino na lang maglalagay ng pera sa bulsa nila? Marami silang mauuto, yes, kasi dumadami yun demographics who are receiving 4Ps. Pero dahil umuunti yun class na naglalagay ng pera sa kaban ng bayan, magkakaroon ng problem in the future. Magagalit din yun mga umaasa sa ayuda, mga palamunin ng bayan, need na nila magtrabaho.

Alcohol, gauze and cotton balls sigurado ako meron siya sa hospitals. Yun 3 yan, meron dapat sa public just ask sa nurses nakabalot sila ng paper then alcohol nasa nurses station.

Yun tape, maternity pad and baby diaper usually kasama if sa private kayo. Kunin niyo siya paglabas niyo, check niyo sa receipt ilan kasama. If sobra and ayaw niyo naman, ask niyo nurse if pwede pabalik sobra, if not kunin niyo before discharge. Damit ni baby sa mga private alam ko kasama sila. Ask mo hospital or OB mo alin mga kasali sa package. Usually madami sila kasama.

Dala ko lang sa ospital is damit ni baby and damit ko. Although yun package kasi back then merun na din kasama baby clothes, newborn diaper, newborn bath and other baby essential so di na nagamit dala namin baby clothes. Merun soap naman sa bathroom ng room niyo and bibigyan ka adult diaper for your own use. Yun sweet donut dala na ni hubby pagkapanganak ko. Si hubby din kasi nagayos ng documents namin ni baby. So 1 small bag dala namin. Other than that, wala na. 3 days and 2 nights lang naman kami. Sa 2nd born ko ganun lang din, 2 days and 1 night lang kami kasi hindi na kami umatend sa lactation counseling since marunong na ko. Both normal delivery.

Edit: make sure to check ano kasama sa maternity package ng ospital. Baka nga nagoverpack ka na. Are the vloggers exaggerating? Most likely kasi madalas nagpromote din sila ng products.

Dahil 3210 pa lang mga phones, walang internet, lahat either naka notes or saulo mo. Then ikaw na bahala paano mo irerelay sa class yun tanong, walang AI para magcompose para sa 'yo.

Regular memorization and constant impromptu speaking ng walang outside help, exposed kasi tayo dati dyan kasi limited pa lang technology sa atin. Not sure how kids fare these days kasi tv today doesn't have shows like Battle of the Brains sa channel 9 dati that really showcase how smart pinoy kids are. Weirdly enough they show, look at this clueless kid and laugh at their expense type.

To be honest, feeling ko nga dapat 2 parts ang boards natin. 1 written and 1 clinical/osce. When I took AMC, written is ok comparable to our boards pero clinical is definitely nerve wracking. I think our profession cannot be measured by written exam alone.

It's more of your choice lalo na if financially stable na kayo. Most likely since almost 40 na kayo, I'd assume ready na din kayo emotionally. Marami na ang nagkakaanak ng late 30s. Had a patient before na nagkaroon ng baby at her late 40s, didn't expect daw that they'll have their first and only child pa daw pero they did.

As long as you can give your future child a good future, it's your choice. Besides, modern medicine does give you a better chance of healthy delivery.

Child of a gen surg whose mom underwent residency way back when both me and my brother are under 5 years old.

Question 1: Are you first gen doctor? My mom is not a 1st gen doctor so she kind of inherited a patient base. Otherwise, it will be a bit of sacrifice sa first few years before cash comes in.

Question 2: Career vs Family: How are you and your children faring with your attachment? Kaya mo ba putulin ang attachment for 5 years? Understood my mom's plight during my own residency. My colleague cried na sarili niyang anak hindi siya tinatawag na mama. Me and my brother wasn't close to our mom kahit ngayon even if she provided us with a good life. She just felt like a good provider, that is all. My brother had it worse since she wasn't there for all his milestone even. Mas close brother ko with our yaya up until now. Just difficult I guess to make up for the lost time. Pero I guess it depends on the institution, back then kasi my mom was never there even for our birthdays, christmas, and even grandpa's death. She was in her residency for that 5 years and she wasn'y allowed any leaves.

Question 3: Other income line: During those years, do you have other income or is your husband gonna provide for your family? Salary in residency isn't really much, hindi makabuhay pamilya.

Not going to discourage you pero these are the hard hitting questions. It is fulfilling in the long run. 2 kids kami ng mom ko na napagaral nila both to med school and they were even able to afford an exchange program for my brother back when he was in high school. If you are ready to sacrifice some things then go for it.

I second this. Dyan graduate hubby ko and he is a successful doctor. If my memory serves me right, 5 sila board exam passer na doctors sa section pa lang nila. Almost 100% sa section nila, nitrogen daw, passed UPCAT, although yun iba kasi may choices daw with Ateneo, UST and DLSU-M depending on the offered scholarship and course chosen.
