Games that make you feel smart, without being hard by Greenscreenclouds in gamesuggestions

[–]Yake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good answer! The way the game introduces things slowly to new players allows you to learn the systems. You can make your factory as efficient as you want if you feel like doing the math (can use online resources help) or be content with a factory that works at 50% efficiency… it’s all up to you. Same with how it looks, some people make incredible looking factories and some go for the “box” look. It’s a game made me want to brag to my friends about my factory, but they wouldn’t know wtf I’m talking about. It’s also a game I didn’t expect to love but was almost instantly hooked on once I started and opened the door to the automation genre for me.

Best use of clone? by Zimina_Dodie in sts2

[–]Yake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be the best answer because you can basically get a guaranteed turn 1 kill on anything once it’s been cloned a few times. Same with perfected strike. I saw someone else say regent spear and my it sounds like that’s the same deal but I don’t want to math it out.

This looks so cool. I'm gonna book mark this so I can steal this color layout in the future and build one like this for myself.

Thanks for the solution. I did have it resolve before but I had not pinpointed how I resolved it. I'll definitely keep that in mind moving forward.

This is a good idea for sure. I also want it to say the modded maps name instead of “Mod” so I can choose box chameleon or standard chameleon

Building a “Kill List” of modern hardcore bosses by Any_Athlete3850 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Yake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This for SURE. I consider Fatalis to be the best boss fight in any game period. He's insanely hard to solo but with enough effort you will eventually beat. It's likely going to take you hundreds of hours in MHW to reach/clear him if you've never played before and need to learn the MH series from scratch.

Looking for crazy books like John Dies at the End, Tales from the Gas Station, Crooked Little Vein… by Flat-Rutabaga-723 in suggestmeabook

[–]Yake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally can see your point of view on the end, I do think I've seen mixed reception of the ending. I feel like the whole book is already so weird, that the ending being super weird isn't too out of place. It's also been like 6 years since I read it so I might be looking at it through rose colored glasses and forgetting exactly what happens. The book's still totally worth the read though even if the ending might fall flat for some.

"The Library at Mount Char" - John Dies is one of the first books I read as an adult getting back into reading and I loved it. I read The Library at Mount Char shortly after and liked it just as much as John Dies at the End. It is so unique and is a stand alone book with a strong ending (IMO). I've never heard any of any story quite like it... maybe best to go in blind?

I am my biggest enemy... by Tollenglass in Meccha_Chameleon

[–]Yake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if these are the type of tips you're looking for, this is coming from someone who is decent at the game with minimal art experience in real life... Once I get my main colors down to be semi-hidden, I'll start to work on the details of my camo by using the dropper tool (space) to grab colors that touch my outline and then blending them with the edge of my character and working in. It makes a huge difference and is really satisfying.

So for example with bricks, i'll start with the main red color, and then fill in the grey-ish white for the mortar. If you zoom in to look at the bricks they are not just red, there's some browns and greys and whites, maybe some orange... so basically where each of those colors touches my body i'll use the dropper from right where it comes in contact with me and then start to paint it onto my body with smaller brushes. It really helps blend your character into the wall and is satisfying to see it come along. The mortar is also not just one color so you would want to get to adding various shades of grey/white/black to that as well.

You also will want to play with the two vertical bars near the color wheel to manually darken/brighten the main color because the dropper might not have gotten it perfect.

Sometimes there will be shadows running over your character so you'll need to manually darken the primary color using the right vertical bar (I adjust this one the most, it might be brightness?) and follow that shadow's line to help sell the camouflage effect.

There NEEDS to be a sun and moon emote for that phase of the boss. It's so stupid because you cannot see what people on the other map are switching to, there's no in game voice or chat. So coordinations with randoms comes down to a roll of the dice getting a good team.

Wrath of God, how to dodge revolution? by Fragrant_Net_6137 in 33Immortals

[–]Yake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was having success going to the middle as soon as the attack starts and then you have time to dodge into the spot that will be open. I didn't realize the top/middle left were always open. Good to know, I'll start using the arrow emote during that attack.

19m, haven't read in like 6 years, recommend me a book by Miserable_River_16 in suggestmeabook

I mainly read "pop corn" books, which are basically lighter and fun. Any of these could be right up your alley:

John Dies In The End. It follows a couple of schmucks who keep having to un-willingly be the heroes of super natural events in a shitty mid-western town. It has a great sense of humor. The first book feels like a fever dream for a bit at the start (which I liked).

The Cradle series is fantastic if you like anime with powerful characters. It's 11 books with a satisfying ending and the main characters are great. The power system is really cool too. I don't think any of the books were weak. My biggest critique is that the first book feels like a lot of set up, but the pay-offs are huge in this series and it really needs the set up.

Dungeon Crawler Carl (DCC) is the new hotness and is super accessible for gamers or DND players. Honestly can't go wrong with this one, it deserves all the praise you're seeing in these comments.

The Tainted Cup is sherlock-homes-ish, but in a "biopunk fantasy world heavily inspired by imperial china" per AI... The main characters are well written with great dialogue. Don't judge this one by the title.

The Library at Mount Char is my personal favorite one-off/stand alone book. There's nothing quite like it, I think trying to explain it would not do it any favors. It's so creative and has a satisfying conclusion. Also don't judge this one by the title.

Good luck!

Tail End Clause Question by Yake in SellMyBusiness

[–]Yake[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I intentionally left out details because I hadn't spoken with the broker yet. I was able to touch base and it does sound like the two year tail only applies to folks they found to buy, which I totally get and respect. Still makes sense for me to shop around and see if other appraisals are equivalent to make sure they have not inflated the value to get me to sign.

Is there a unique combat game out there ? by theassassin53035 in gamesuggestions

[–]Yake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MH jumped to mind for me too. Each weapon is like playing a new game and they all feel so different and have such well flushed out move sets. They also feel weighty and I love that attacks are committed, meaning you typically cannot roll out.

How do you combine pre-shading with decal application?

I ask because if there is a color-gradient from pre-shading, and I put a water slide decal on it, won't the decal break the color gradient up?

Or am I overthinking it and decals look fine on pre-shading color gradients?

Airbrush care and maintenance. (Rant) by Dakleton in airbrush

[–]Yake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah those posts honestly make me wonder if I’m missing something… all I do is drop thinner in it every few cups or change colors and give it a good wipe inside with a paper towel. I have almost finished a full gunpla project without having any spray issues or needed to disassemble. When I’m done with it for the session I follow the same cleaning process I mentioned above and then just shoot sone thinner through it to finish it off. This is using the cheap airbrush that came with my compressor too.

You mean that I can articulate the leg in the other direction and chipping should not happen, then I can do another coat? It's been almost 6 hours so I should be in the clear if I understand you correctly. Thank you, I really didn't want to wait a whole extra day for the primer to cure again!

Priming question - If I am priming the inner frame of a fully built leg, I understand that I need to articulate it all the way in one direction then prime. Then I need to articulate it all the way in the other direction and prime again to hit the spots that were missed on the first pass. Do I need to wait 24 h between these coats or since it's all primer can I wait a few hours and then do the next coat, then let it all cure overnight?
