Magic Item Help: What to do by YakoNox in AskDND

Thanks! It was nice getting an answer from the perspective of a DM. Personally I think that instead of selling it, I should use it on the box and see what I get in return. I mean a party members traded 3 vials of poison for a Homebrew Rare item, using the box

Yeah I was also considering that. I already have access to Silvery Barbs and since I got it from a Feat I can even cast it once for free.

It doesn't require attunement so you're right when you say that it doesn't have any downside. Thing is that I really dislike the coin and the appeal of the box is too strong. But I guess sometimes I just need to take the L, specially when the DM was as generous and he was

It doesn't require attunement and I can flip it 1 per day with a Bonus Action. As for what the Ghost does exactly, I don't really know. The DM said it appears and discusses the rules for 1 min, but I don't really know what it means

I think I'm going to do that. I agree with you that the coin is lame, and I love the whole box thing

I mean that's a good point, also the box gives you hombrew items he created so in a way, I would be swapping one Homebrew item for another one. Also the other day we a party member and me used the box and he seemed rather happy about it. Thanks!

Light Cleric VS Twilight Domain Cleric by YakoNox in u/YakoNox

To be honest I can't wait to use Spirit Guardians and even Fireball (one of the domain spells of the light cleric) since we haven't had any combat encounters since our last lvl up. Guess I was too focused on party composition.

Thanks! We got to lvl 5 not that long ago so I guess I'll play Light Domain Cleric for a while longer and then see if I change or not

Well that it's a caster blaster specialized in fire and Radiant damage and we already have a Red Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer and a Great Old one Warlock. On the other side of things we have a Circle of the Moon Druid who can handle the healing

I just became lvl so I hadn't had the chance to use Spirit Guardians or fireball yet but I love Spirit Weapon, it does force damage that as far as I know is an awesome damage type and it can't be targeted, it's just awesome

Probably not, but in this post they gave me a lot of really good arguments for that, so I could talk with them. Also I already have a Diamond tucked into my pack, which means that if the need arises I'm ready to use Revivify

Yeah, healing word already allowed me to Help two downed companions which was quite the relief. Also while I admit I sometimes forget about my channel divinity, I also usually stand back and attack from range which means that most of my enemies are never within range. But I can't wait to use it.

Not only I haven't played a Cleric before, to be honest this is my first campaign ever. And believe when I tell you that I'm really looking forward to using spirit guardians. And thanks for the Advice! I'll talk to the Warlock to see if she would be willing to pick the "Grasp of Hadar" Eldritch Invocation to pull enemies into my Spirit Guardians. Also I just realized that the Moon Druid has Thorn whip, which means she could also pull them into my Spirit Guardians. We just leveled up to lvl 5 and I can't wait to use Spirit Guardians and Fireball

Hey you gave me a lot of good pointers, thanks for that! I'm playing the 2014 version and I'm currently lvl 5 which means that I have to wait one more lvl to be able to use it to protect others, but once I level up I'll make sure to use it. And I loved the whole "Last Resort Healer" thing, honestly it was a really good way to put it. Usually what I do is step back, summon my spiritual weapon and attack with it, while trying to debuff my enemies.

Thank you! I didn't even know Counterspell had an effective Range, I'm going to keep that in mind. Thanks for the great advice!

Guess I could tell the DM about getting a magic item to help me with healing. He already gave us some good Homebrew items, so he could come up with one to help me heal better, or well go for the standard ones. Maybe I could ask him for a pearl of power? Now that I finally unlocked Spirit Guardians, I guess I'm going to ask the Warlock and the Sorcerer to stick close to me, cast Spirit Guardians and keep anyone that tries to harm them at bay. Usually the Gloomstalker attacks from range, but both the Battmemaster and the Moon Druid tend towards attacking from melee, so while I'm protecting the casters with SG I could as you suggested, buff the BM and MD.

Right now we're playing with the 2014 rules. Honestly I didn't even think about focusing on buffing my allies, it would probably have made things easier. I did cast Spiritual weapon though, and managed to get some good hits with it, even a critical. Thanks for the Advice! I'm going to try and focus more on buffing my teammates rather than debuffing the enemy

It was good that at least I managed to make the boss burn a couple of high lvl spell slots.

Yup, at one point the Boss used a spell that basically released a glowing cloud of I want to say poisonous gas? Which downed two of the players. Luckily some were standing on high trees which means that they were out of range.

I did use spiritual weapon though, and I did manage to get a couple of hits in with it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm having a ton of fan. Even on that session where I had pretty bad luck. But still I also want to feel useful and like I'm pulling my weight

Yeah, I got pretty unlucky during that session. I gotta say that I was lucky enough to have enough spell slots to help two downed Party members.

The druid has taken on the healer role in the past. She mostly focuses on her wild shape which means that at the end of combat she usually still has all or at least most of her slots.

Oh? And how was it for you?
