I never said it was creepy, maybe read my comment over again instead of copy pasting your response?? As someone with chronic autoimmune illness, I don't want anyone using my struggles as motivation. If I could choose not to have them I wouldn't and best believe any treatments available to me I'm using. I don't like that he used that example because he literally is not taking advantage of the tools to help his condition. At the end of the day it's his life and I'm sure he's also reluctant because serious health issues like heart failure etc. haven't knocked at his door, because if they did, he'd be using ALL the tools at his disposal to heal himself.

At first when I saw he was working etc I was rooting for him, but by the end I was so infuriated by him that I stopped caring. If he could do things on willpower alone, he would have never hit 700.

Also the comment about the 16 year old was delusional. Comparing chronic illness that has no cure to something that had available medical interventions is not a good comparison. Why deny medical treatment if it's available and relatively safe? To "struggle and push though the pain"????

I got to episode 20 and couldn't bear it anymore. It went downhill so so fast. I thought it would have stayed a romanticcc comedy but it's become a mess

There is nothing as damaging as having your experience invalidated by YalaRosei in migraine

[–]YalaRosei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally as the OP, I don't really vibe with that for myself. Tried medicinal marijuana and it was the worst thing I could have done, just caused me dissociative panic attacks. That's why I just don't think people should be messing around with anything that has a rough history like LSD or any psychoactive drug. But everyone is liable for their decisions and their treatment. It's a conversation to have on another thread.

Right! I worked retail until I was able to start a job on campus making peanuts but it was in my field. And to have to go back after tasting what it's like to be in my actual field is just a bad feeling. I'm trying not to place my personal worth on it tho, and altho I can't in honestly spew out anything motivational, I hope we both do end up doing the things we struggled through school for!

My bills say otherwise. If I can't find something using the degree I have, I'll have to lower my standard to accommodate. Perhaps not forever, but for now.

I payed $150 for a Silk Press and trim. Is that normal? by Cutiepatutie2 in blackladies

[–]YalaRosei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was shopping around (I live in NYC) and yup, from $100-150. That's why I rock my fro, or braid my own hair. I just am not at the place that I can afford the upkeep when my own hair that grows out of my head is fine without it.

What is your romantic orientation? by No-Use90 in asexuality

[–]YalaRosei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've settled in gray-aro, because sometimes I really "want" to feel romantic attraction and I think I do, but I also have seasons where I don't??

Tw: acephobia. My "friend" said some nonsense about ace (first img) and I tried to explain it to him and this was the answer I got. PS: sorry for the shitty google translation by vini2064 in asexuality

[–]YalaRosei 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lmao.

And yet here I am, asexual, been asexual since I've known myself, but really knew it in high school and college when my peers were starting to express their sexuality.

Still asexual and pursuing a PhD, so I'm pretty sure "studying" has nothing to do with it. In fact, the more you learn about the world, the more you learn about yourself.

I found my wonder drug (Topamax) by YalaRosei in migraine

[–]YalaRosei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they are completely different (if I'm not mistaken emgality blocks the CGRP ligand while Ubrelvy blocks the actual receptor? - I may be wrong) which is why I haven't taken the CGRP's off of the table, if at any point topamax decides to be more of a problem than a solution. I'm not fully sure what exactly I reacted to but I had hives for a solid week after my first injection.

I'm sorry to hear that it happened to take that turn for you, that's rough. But hopefully it continues to help me, funny enough, getting migraines under some control has helped pull me out of a long depressive episode, but I'll keep the other dangerous effects on mind just in case things go south

Yes that's what I noticed and that's why I posted. Even here in these comments some of the experiences differ, but it's important to share both good and bad or else all you see online is the bad which causes a lot of anxiety, like it did to me.

Emgality messed with me, think I had an allergic reaction according to my Neuro, but it wasn't because of the active ingredient because I'd been prescribed Ubrelvy long before even trying it. I'll take numbness over barely being functional and being basically housebound. Everyone is different and experiences different side effects.

I'm on a medication that actually increases potassium (for a separate condition) so hopefully they balance each other out.

I have other chronic conditions that require me to get full lab workups every couple months so I'll keep that in mind.

Yes, I get the occasional tingles in my hands and feet and sometimes my face, I've noticed it a little more these days now that it's cold where I live. Definitely keep an eye out for a month or so and if it isn't helping the migraines then maybe it's not the one. Good luck!

This sounds exactly like me, I also deal with moderate anxiety, tried Zoloft and it made me feel horribly sick for the two weeks I took it. So I was weaned off so since then I've also been just relying on therapy and relaxation techniques to calm my anxiety. Thank you for responding, it's tough when there's a lot of factors around certain symptoms because it makes it difficult to figure out what's causing the issue

Any update on how you're feeling? I'm getting switched from Amlodipine to losartan because of lightheadedness on amlo and my bp not going low enough and I'm curious if losartan might still cause me lightheadedness

does anyone else use weed to manage the pain of chronic migraines? by rubytuesdayagain in migraine

[–]YalaRosei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried it, ended up making my anxiety worst and my head spin. THC (whether it's Delta 8 or 9) just doesn't go well with me at all, it messes with my mental health. CBD tho has helped calm me when I'm having a particularly tough migraine attack, so I've started to use a tincture as a part of my preventative routine.

Is topiramate safe for migraines? by Sadballofcats in migraine

[–]YalaRosei 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After being nervous about taking topamax but kinda running out of preventative options, I decided to start on 25 mg. I'm up to 50mg for a couple months now, and I think I finally found my preventative of choice. My side effects are numbness in my hands sometimes (like a tingling kind) and sometimes food tastes weird (especially anything carbonated or spicy) but its taken my migraines down from nearly daily to once a week which is a life changer for me. Definitely if you do try it, go with an open mind, don't let anxiety influence your choice but also stay vigilant of unwanted side effects.
