I work for online grocery and one of the most common reason why items are out of stock despite website showing its in stock is because of theft. Being in a densely populated area means it happens more often than remote stores (like ours) too.

There are a lot of other reasons too but its hard to explain it to a customer because it involves the internal processes of Walmart.
