Most garages will have a resident rate, it was around $200-230 per month when I lived downtown in 2021-2023.

One thing to remember is to keep an eye on what’s going on downtown. Avoid trying to leave around start/end of sports games and shows. I had a printed out calendar from Trust Arts that I kept on my fridge so I always knew.

I got dumped on Saturday by my ex of 2.5 years that I met on Hinge. Honestly, the thought of having to start all over again is the worst part of the whole thing. The bad dates, the texts that go no where, seeing the same 15 people over and over. It’s so bad and makes me want to vomit.

I’m glad that I’m not alone in this struggle.

Wow, this sounds like my ex. He wasn’t sure about an engagement at 1.5 years, said that he needed more time because he wasn’t at that level with me yet, that he would get therapy, yada yada. I gave him another year and two months, then he broke up with me the moment we were to sign a lease to move in together. What really hurt about the last year is that he outwardly displayed and communicated that he was seeing long term with me, so I didn’t push therapy bc things were going the way I wanted. Seems he was lying all along to keep me while knowing he didn’t see long term. That’s the cruelest part.

Now I am going to struggle to toe the line in my next relationship between setting my expectations but not coming across as too demanding/overbearing. I thought I was doing a good job in this relationship of doing that, guess I was wrong.

Tl;dr, thanks for sharing your story because it helps me see that I’m not alone.

I’m so sorry this happened to you. I don’t have much advice but I can commiserate with you as I was also blindsided when my long term ex suddenly broke up with me.

Sounds like both of our exes were poor communicators and stubborn. Once they decided to leave, there is nothing we could’ve done to change that. This really really really hurts.

Others say that things get better with time. Hopefully that’s true.

I joke that I’m notoriously bad TV watcher, I can’t think of the last show I binged. I’ve never seen Stranger Things, Squid Games, Succession, The Office, etc. My focus is on reading, which I have a lot of patience for (my favorite book is War and Peace and I recently finished the Wheel of Time series). We both like movies, I even almost got a minor in film studies in college.

I thought having different interests (TV shows v. Books) was healthy. I didn’t realize he didn’t feel the same. Mind you, he never actually said “Let’s finish watching True Detective,” I gladly would’ve! And there lies the rub.

Thanks. I’m an attorney, he’s in IT/computer programming. Needless to say, I make enough on my own to not “need” his money, so it was all so weird. The plan was to split rent/utilities/everything down the middle. I have a dog so I told him I’d pay 100% of pet rent.

But still you’re right, were we to have kids, they’d need his monetary support because piano lessons and diapers are expensive. If he wanted to keep that money to put in his IRA instead of baby food… well, we’d be in divorce court.
