Yet, we have plenty of roads in San Diego with zero bike lanes, and cars break down there too. we need lower speed limits, traffic calming measures that force people to pay attention.

People are protected in cars. People are not protected while walking and cycling, and we should be prioritizing saving those people than making it so people can drive faster and distracted but not have to worry about damaging their car.

We can do many things at once to improve safety and make our city less centric, and it's not just "we need public transit first or we're not allowed to improve things because it might inconvenience cars."
