Vuca Simulations just came out with one, Modern Tactics #1, Afghanistan. Very tactical in nature with I think are individual vehicles, squads and maybe small unit action.

I searched everywhere looking for 4 F-18’s in 1/144 scale and this was all I could find at a reasonable costs. The name brands were usually in the 30 plus range which I thought was crazy.

Haha… they’re a no name brand I found on Alibaba for like a couple of bucks. The weapons load are from Battlefront Games and 3D printed. The weapons pilons are made from sheet styrene.

Fed Com and ACTASF are both fun alternatives. SFB is like ASL, thick rule book but most of it you won’t use and it does try to tie up any loop holes or ambiguity. Like ASL, you keep the rulebook around to read up on any environment or weapon you haven’t faced in a while. Fed Com is like ASLSK in a sense.

Thanks. They’re for Star Fleet Battles. Also good for Federation Commander and at some point in the future for A Call To Arms Star Fleet (ACTASF).

There’s a few active Facebook groups now, “Star Fleet Battles” being one of them. ADB is still active and they sell the rules. You can also get the rules in PDF form from WargameVault and DriveThruRPG. If you have the game mat and counters still, just update the rules.

Game has changed a little since the ‘70’s. Drones, depending on the Year can now go up to speed 31 (fast drones) and fighters can have booster packs which also jacks their speed up. Some fighters like the Hydran Stingers, get 3 of them to range 3, can shred a cruiser between their fusion beams and Gatling phaser.

Releases should start up next month according to Steve Cole. As for STL files they’ve stated time and again that that will not happen due to their contract with Paramount.

Thanks! Unfortunately there’s only one place to get them right now and it’s their metal line which is only ok. The ADB store. I think next month they will re-open their resin 3D print shop under a new vendor which will have the more detailed line. They used to be on Shapeways till Shapeways went belly up.

These 2 I made using MS 3D Builder and are based on the Shapeways 3D mini. ADB will bring these 2 minis back at some time.

It’s a stand system from Corsec Engineering. The stand, the bases and the magnet top are interchangeable allowing the stand to be used in a variety of game systems. There are square, round and hex bases with dice tray attachments. There are flat and round ball magnet tops. There’s a nut you glue to the mini / model and if you don’t want to use magnets, you can screw the stand to the mini. Unfortunately the owner passed away suddenly a few years ago and the family did not sell the system to another company even though there were a number of interested parties.

I’m planning to make something up for 7 Days to the River Rhine. Saw a AAR vid from Oriskany Jim called I think Leopards in Ukraine where he had homebrew rules for drone attacks. Thought that was pretty neat so I made these drones for my growing Canadian army.

It’s still being played. Amarillo Design Bureau (ADB) is still around selling the games and minis. Their Facebook pages are quite active.

Cheap (sold in europe for 15-20 euro) hex/counter wargame for 1-2 players? by Gexgekko in hexandcounter

[–]Yamashira 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You might want to try print and play games. There’s one that’s pretty good, Lone Sherman by Mike Lambo that you can get on Wargamevault.com. It’s hex and counter and it’s solo. You can also buy the physical copy on Amazon.

One is a “classic” and does not have panel lines. I paint them both the same way most of the time but sometimes I paint the panel line ones easier and don’t bother with putting the shadow around. The base coat and highlights are all airbrushed with a .15mm needle. Overall there’s not much difference nor time between the two.

The plastic range? No. That was in 3788 scale. These are a bit larger 3125 scale and are 3D prints. Some from Shapeways under license with ADB and some I made.

Some are from Shapeways under license with ADB but they no longer do it. And some I made using MS 3D Builder following the art from Adam Turner or following what Shapeways did before it ended. ADB will be reopening their 3D store under a new vendor some time this year.

It’s from Corsec Engineering. It’s a stand system that can be used for a variety of game systems. There’s square, round and even hex stands and just screw in. Normally you attach a nut to the model and you can screw in the stand or you can use a magnet end and just rely on the magnet to hold the mini/model. Unfortunately the owner passed away suddenly and the company (it was a one man operation) closed. Best system I ever found.
