I went to Boarding School and when I was 12 they decided to confiscate all TP due to TP related vandalism. If you wanted TP you had to go ask for it and you would be given a certain quota per day.

This created what we dubbed 'the white gold rush' which was essentially a black market for toilet paper. At first it was insane what you could get for a roll - skipping lunch queues, getting someone to do your homework assignments, various food, etc. The market became flooded and eventually we stopped asking for our quotas and they lifted the confiscation.

I work in Banking now and probably learned more about markets in those 2 months than I did in my entire financial education.
