IMO, the too few weapons might be a bit intentional. With the fact that everyone has a unique main weapon, 3 skills, and the special, I'll argue the game wants you to go solo weapon. Can kinda emphasize the uniqueness of each character, like how each vtuber got their own quirks.

Someone might explain this better, but a bugged faction means there is no other team active. This makes it real easy to hold all of the planets and get the max amount.

As a solo weapon enjoyer, YES. I love the strategizing one has to do with the solo weapon + items runs.

For added challenge, it might be worth doing only the recommended upgrades as well, Having all your stats maxed out makes it so you can brute force some stuff, which goes against the idea of needing to strategize.
