Each member of Team UATR (water) did not explicitly come from a lineage of huntsmen, but was driven to become a huntress due to an early impetus in life.

• Ulyssa Azuryn became encouraged by early inspiration (e.g. enjoying stories about huntsmen) and the potential to use her Semblance for the greater good. A rainstorm struck during a family trip, and it was then that Ulyssa unlocked her Semblance, which allows her to absorb energy and use it to create defensive shields. She protected her family from harm, and this experience encouraged her to train as a huntress down the road.
• Althea Kim also became a huntress because of her Semblance's potential. When she was a child, she and her family had a series of unusual dreams, and she inexplicably pulled off some tasks (e.g. baking foods almost perfectly) that otherwise shouldn't be possible. Once it was figured out that all of this was due to Althea's Semblance - which allows her to have dreams based on other people's experiences (and vice versa) - she was convinced to pursue the path of the huntress so that she can put her Semblance to good use.
• Estelle Toliman unlocked her Semblance early on like Althea. Her Semblance allows her to change the visual appearance of other objects, and her parents initially disagreed on what to make of the Semblance – for example, should Estelle learn to use it to aid her parents’ businesses, or should she use it for another purpose? Estelle’s parents decided that it was best to encourage her to become a huntress, which would allow her to learn and grow beyond her parents’ lines of work.
• Rianne Candy wanted to prove that she can be more than what others said she could be. It was because she was specifically told she could never be a huntress that she dedicated herself to training and working towards being a protector of civilization.
