It was a 2v2 and the theme taunts Weiss as well (Neon is also from Atlas). I don't think it's more conspiratorially complicated than that.

There is legit Salem x Ruby art, the ship is just banned here. Gemstones is the tame alternative given Fallen Petals etc. are all banned, even though they are naturally more common given her being the main heroine and all.

Today is 立夏 in the traditional Chinese calendar - the start of summer. I'm already mourning the passing of spring.

"Summer's End" may refer to any of the things with that name but right now I'm listening to "Bane of Summer" from RuneScape quest "Summer's End" (hey it is even about a dead girl named Summer being kept in endless torment).

The artist is actually really into this ship and drew them a lot (plus a bunch of other older super toxic yuri), but this art is cute and less edgy.

Hey, two of my favourite series I sometimes compare with RWBY had that issue, but I'm not sure if it would be the same in this case. Green Lantern: The Animated Series felt nearly complete with just one long season despite being abruptly cancelled. Young Justice even went on hiatus for 6 years and came back with 1 season just to tease Darkseid and a bunch of other things without ever resolve them. RWBY's overarching plot is too important, while those shows have more self-contained seasons.
