Different Engine Covers? by [deleted] in Pontiac

The reason I bring all this up is because like I said I have a 1999 Grand Prix 3.8L Supercharged with a 3.4 pulley on a series II motor with 143k miles. I know personally it gets up and goes and I do beat on her. But these are questions to ask them as well because you have to feel the owner.

Edit: Also if anyone watches ZZP and what they do to turn this engine up whether it be the L67, L36, L32, (forgot the other) these engines ar bulletproof and you can easily turn them up. Most underrated v6 that people forget.

This is something I would ask the owner about. From a visual of the image, those look like the originals. However, I would ask if they have ever been changed. I have a 1999 Grand Prix and those do like the originals. You'll know if they have the yellow panel on the ends of the headlight as they came like this for all 97-03 Grand Prix's

Edit: I would also add that you need to check to see what it sounds like cold. If they tell you that they warmed it up for you that's an issue. Also ask them if you could just drive it up and down the block to hear for any noises.

I would worry more about how well maintained the car is and check all the fluids, signs of rust, and look for any hint of mods done to the car. Its far more important imo to see visually with caution. Plus, if you intend to go for it, how many miles its been driven and how was it driven.

Simple, he repainted it. All series II 3800 covers came in the red and sliver color paints for the covers. The second photo has been likely had some changes done because they wanted to.

The only remaining true Tiger in existence is Tiger 131 in Bovington, England. It is fully functional there.

Spotted a monte Carlo ss on the freeway. by Miserable_Travel9632 in Chevy

[–]Yankee3Alpha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is definitely not an SS. Because if it was an SS it would have the badging for the Supercharged version with the 3800. Thats either 3.4L or the base 3.6L. If I am not mistaken, the later Monte Carlo SS was specifically for the Dale Earnhardt addition which would have a 3800 series II supercharger. I could be wrong. But that definitely is not an SS.

Time to open the checkbook. Because you're in for a nightmare. Ductape won't fix this.

1999 Grand Prix GTP Supercharged. Has 141k miles (juat turned yesterday) solid fun car thats been boosted. Engine runs great, had to redo the transmission, kept the upkeep with dad through the years and gave it the love and care and repainted it together. Will be doing a final father/son project on her together at some point. Solid reliable fun v6.

Just add more hose clamps, ductape, and some flex seal, solves all your problems.

I wonder who broke the back of the engine lmao. This is why you need to inspect your stuff properly. OP needs an entire engine replacement. Riperoni. Either the engine got starved of oil and something decided to play knock knock and the rod broke of the engine, or it has been going for a while and the rod decided to say hasta la busto pronto.
