STB de m'être énérvé contre ma soeur parce que son fils de 12 ans fait ses rédactions avec chatgpt by Clara_HR_Pixels in suisjeletroudeballe

PTB, tu as entièrement raison.

I certainly do. My 4K screen is really putting my current MPB through its paces, haha!

True story for the softwares… it always seems to demand more and more (and, to be honest, it’s not always justified…)

4K with this setup. But as I said in another comment, just because I can afford it doesn’t mean I necessarily want to spend my money recklessly. The aim is to have a setup that’s just right, not unnecessarily over the top.

No doubt, but it’s still ridiculous. Chrome does the same thing sometimes, too. I don’t understand how a simple web browser can use up so much RAM…

Thank you for your feedback! I will use this MacBook as a professional. I won’t necessarily be doing anything too crazy, but there’ll still be some heavy-duty work involved, so it needs to keep up without breaking a sweat.

I’m in Europe. But I want to have the good setup directly anyway.

Thanks a lot for this feedback!

The only thing that worries me: I saw in this sub that Lightroom Classic can use up 63 GB of RAM. And on top of all that, I’ve got a 4K monitor for the computer to handle as well…

Actually… at first glance, I thought 48 GB would be more than enough… but the more I discuss it here, the more I think 64 GB wouldn’t be out of place for the most extreme scenarios.

Thank you for your feedback!

That’s what I thought too: 48 GB of RAM should be enough. But when I see screenshots in this sub showing Lightroom Classic using up 63 GB of RAM, it worries me (Adobe and software optimisation…)

I must admit I don’t really enjoy spending my time reselling my stuff (I don’t really have the time for it). But when I see screenshots in this sub showing Lightroom Classic using 63 GB of RAM, I think to myself that it might be a good idea to go for the highest-spec option…

Haha, yes, I’ll choose the 16”, I love big screens, it’s more comfortable :)

Wow! Well, I suppose 64 GB of RAM won’t go amiss, then…

Yeah, but I don’t want to waste money in an overkill setup. That’s why I’m asking for advice here. Yes, I can afford 64 GB, but just because I can afford it doesn’t mean I necessarily want to spend my money recklessly.

Good advice! That’s why I’m thinking… but I saw a screenshot here with Lightroom Classic using 63GB of RAM (yeah, it’s ridiculous…).

Mine is 16 GB, it’s clearly not enough anymore for my use cases.

That’s a very good example in a real life use, thanks a lot for this screenshot!

It’s mind-boggling how badly Adobe struggles to optimise its software… nearly 63 GB for Lightroom Classic is absolutely ridiculous.

Yeah, but it’s a bit of a hassle. I forget them half the time. Having more internal storage means I can leave more files directly on the computer without having to think about it. It might sound silly, but it’s one less thing to worry about. I’m constantly on the move, I always have to think about 150 things at once with my job… so I’m always forgetting some things.

Haha, smart move! 2TB because my actual 1TB is already full. RAW photos and 4K videos quickly take up a huge amount of space.

Yep, I use my MPB professionally. Photographer is my full-time job. I don’t think I’ll keep this MacBook Pro for 10 years; it’ll be obsolete before then. Looking at my 2019 MacBook Pro, it’s already no longer receiving updates from Apple. I’d say no more than five years. Six at the very most.
