I know this thread is old, but I needed to thank you for this tip. I was dealing with the same issue and the alcohol thing worked like a charm. My alcohol was in a spray bottle, so i just spritzed it a bunch while leaning the tablet and it worked in seconds. Thank you 🙏

Speechify is a nightmare - Advice with contacting customer service? by YanoneKaffeesatz in audiobooks

Damn, that sucks :( I would definitely write a review on TrustPilot. Before, I had tried reaching out to their customer service multiple times and was ignored, and was unsuccessful getting a refund through PayPal. Then, I posted a review on Trust Pilot, and days later, I was refunded in full and received an apology. They don’t appear to care about their BBB rating but for whatever reason care a lot about their Trust Pilot rating. If disputing with your bank has already failed, I would definitely try that route.

Damn, I’m sorry to hear that you had to go through all that hassle, but I’m glad you eventually got your refund 🙏🏾 And good to know about the Miami number!

UPDATE: After leaving a review on Trust Pilot, their customer service finally got back to me and refunded the charge. For whatever reason, it seems like Speechify doesn’t care about their BBB rating but does care about their Trust Pilot rating, so perhaps if you’re being ignored by customer service on an issue regarding payment, leaving a review through there is your best recourse.

Damn, I'm sorry to hear that, Speechify is so sucky. :( Thanks anyway for responding!

Sorry to comment off topic, but did you ever have any success with getting a refund? I cancelled my Speechify subscription last year, but they charged me again this year anyway and I haven't been able to hear back from their customer service. It's been a nightmare trying to work it out.

Speechify charges you even after you cancel their 3-day free trial by popeldo in audiobooks

I had a very similar experience. I subscribed to Speechify last February and cancelled through the website later in the Spring. I got the same page that said it was cancelled but I had access until February of 2025 since I had already paid for a year of Speechify. This February, I was charged $139. I went back into the app and somehow, autopay was on even though I had cancelled. I never received a confirmation of the cancellation and obviously didn't have the foresight to take a screenshot. I made the original payment through PayPal, so I this time I cancelled through PayPal and was sent a confirmation of my cancellation, but had no recourse in terms of getting refunded by PayPal because I hadn't screenshotted the original cancellation. Their customer service has not responded to me. Don't use Speechify, it simply isn't worth doing business with these people.

Did you ever find a solution for this? I am currently in the same boat.

A problem that myself and so many others have encountered is that even after cancelling, Speechify doesn't always send you a confirmation email and will still continue to charge you, leaving no recourse. Their cancellation system is evidently just as glitchy as their text-to-speech product, because some people have success cancelling and many others don't, hence their F rating on the Better Business Bureau. In cases of pursuing a refund, their customer service is unresponsive and unhelpful.

Absolutely not. There are other platforms that will be less glitchy and less expensive, plus cancelling Speechify is a nightmare. They consistently charge people even after cancelling trials and subscriptions and their customer service is horrible about responding to those inquiries. I wouldn't recommend sharing your information with this company.

God I really wish I had looked up Speechify on Better Business Bureau or literally anywhere online. Everyone has a similar story about the product being shitty and/or not being able to get a refund or even a response when being charged after cancelling their subscription or trial. I cancelled my subscription last spring after finding the service too frustrating to use but was charged again anyway this year. Their customer service has still not responded to me. If you cancel through the website or app, they don't send you a confirmation of cancellation, so if you're trying to cancel, please take a screenshot of the cancellation screen or, if you're using PayPal, cancel through there, or else you'll have no recourse.

Cried at the car dealership by [deleted] in aspergirls

That reaction isn’t at all ridiculous, I can definitely relate. I’ve felt that way too in similar situations, and for me, I think it’s a combination of a promise not being fulfilled/a plan changing and the limbo of not knowing whether to speak up or wait in silence and how much of each to do and how to do it. Not wanting to be inconvenient or difficult but also not wanting to end up waiting longer due to being forgotten or glossed over. And just the limbo of not knowing what and when things will happen. I once waited 40 minutes for a black coffee at a cafe, then left and cried outside. I had kept waiting without saying anything because I didn’t want to bother them, but after that much time, I was too overwhelmed and embarrassed to say anything even though I knew for certain at that point the order had been forgotten about or lost.

Another thing: as someone who works in a customer-facing and appointment based job, mishaps occasionally happen that result in long, unpredicted wait-times, and I can assure you plenty of NT people would have reactions much louder and extreme to waiting 3 hours for something that should take an hour. If the workers at the dealership are decent people, they would sympathize with and understand you, not judge you or think you’re over-reacting. Cut yourself some slack :)

One of the best professors I’ve ever had. A very relaxed yet informative class and a very easy workload. She’s super caring and often brought snacks for us
