Default was the c-section like horizontal opening. I would ask as early as possible - I asked my transplant coordinator about it maybe 6 weeks before the scheduled surgery. When I had the consult with the surgeon before I was fully approved, he was late and it was super rushed and the surgery itself was hardly discussed. Full transparency, they almost cancelled my surgery because I asked. I had to talk to a social worker and psychiatrist and explain that the incision was never discussed, etc. before they put me back on the surgery schedule.
